As a graduate of Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, I have a rock-solid foundation in American history, Geography, International Politics, and Latin American Studies, including the Spanish language that will amplify your research papers and boost your AP score.

I work with you to bolster your specific learning needs, either through supplementing by means of direct instruction or the Socratic method, to reach those "aha!" moments and translate them to your research paper. Each lesson will target and grow your mastery of the content while also activating your ability to think critically.

I am well versed in analyzing the many ways history is recorded, such as through the arts, photography, diary entries, storytelling, maps, advertisements, documentaries as well as official government speeches, letters, interviews, and reports. Our Spanish lessons can cover conversational beginnings all the way to verse by verse deconstruction of Nicolas Guillen's poetry.

I aim to help you find the core connections between primary source documents detailing the lives of people and their experiences, their ideas and struggles as they interact with their own community and outside communities, governmental institutions, economic forces, and Mother Nature.

When working with my American History students, from middle and high school to college, my core focus is finding core connections between primary source documents detailing the lives of people and their experiences, their ideas and struggles as they interact with their own community and outside communities, governmental institutions, economic forces, and Mother Nature through the Socratic method. My next mission is then getting those "aha!" moments on paper or in a creative format allowing for freedom of thought and expression. I care about my student's ability to think critically and share their findings with others so that they can engage in fruitful, open-hearted, and open-minded dialogue. My belief is that such academic play leads to the enlightenment of the whole.

Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service. My entire bachelor's degree focused on the intersections between human geography, international politics, philosophy/theology/ethics, history, and sociology. I've applied all of that learning to my time as a Spanish and Social Studies teacher.

As a Spanish Curriculum Coordinator, she created curriculum on ancient Mayan astronomy and mathematics, the culture and geography of the Caribbean, and Spanish Zarzuelas - all which was presented at national conferences. Brenda likes to incorporate highly energized, artistic, and creative play when designing her Spanish lessons. From songs and movement, to the sciences and traditional stories, Brenda’s goal is to create a sensory rich and immersive environment for Spanish learners.

Brenda was fantastic!!

Brenda is a great tutor!! She helped my daughter with her AP World History study guide. She was so good we used her two days in a row! My daughter learned a lot and finished all her work. She had been so stressed trying to learn the material on her own. There was such relief after Brenda worked with her. I’m so glad we found Brenda and will definitely use her again.
