After being a high school math and STEM teacher for six years in Maryland, I moved to San Diego and began working with students one-on-one full-time. I recently returned to Maryland and am excited to work with Maryland students once more.

After being a high school math and STEM teacher for six years in Maryland, I moved to San Diego and began working with students one-on-one full-time. I recently returned to Maryland and am excited to work with Maryland students once more.

What Makes Me a Great Tutor: I loved math as a kid. It was my favorite subject and came easily to me - until middle school. I vividly remember 6th grade, looking around thinking 'Why does everyone else get it? What am I doing wrong?' My math teacher sat down with my parents and with me. She said, "Rachel is not bright enough to go into 7th grade math next year." Hearing that devastated me. I thought, 'if a teacher said it, it must be true' - I couldn't do math. Luckily, my parents refused to believe that their daughter simply lacked the intelligence to succeed. They brought me to a math tutor where we discovered I had gaps in my learning. The extra one-on-one time and practice with a tutor was just what I needed. As a result, I excelled in math, even majoring in it in college.

I want to give struggling students the same opportunity and confidence my parents and tutor gave to me.

As a certified high school math teacher, I've taught Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus, and Robotics. I was trained in Common Core Math and Guided Discovery Learning. Additionally, I tutor SAT Math, ACT Math, and Praxis Math I and II.

I truly believe everyone can learn math. Before we begin, I talk with my students to get a thorough understanding of their unique learning styles. I then adapt my teaching style to match. This method has led to success with every student I've ever tutored.

Terrific Tutor

Rachel did a great job of getting to know our daughter and understand why she was struggling before jumping into the math. When reviewing the material she took the time to explain it several ways to make it accessible.

Rachel is amazing

My daughter took to her so quickly. There are several aspects that my daughter needs assistance with, and solving math equations is just one. Her self-confidence is actually her biggest impediment, and Rachel was so amazing in strengthening her in that. She has set a great tone on which my daughter can build on, thank you Rachel!

Outstanding Tutor

Rachel was a fabulous find! She was prepared, kind, knowledgeable, and fun. My daughter is super excited to have her as her tutor. My daughter felt like Rachel went over the material with her very well. I liked that she even left my daughter with some flashcard reminders of the material that they covered. Great tutor!!
