About Arundhati

I am currently a student studying Graphic and Communications design in the University of Leeds in the UK.
I'm available when I'm home visiting during the summer.

I have plenty of experience helping students with computer related projects, particularly with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. I am very familiar with these programs, as well as Dreamweaver. I am also knowledgeable of HTML, CSS, some Java and PHP.

When helping someone with a creative project, I really work towards making my client or student's vision develop into a final piece that is refined and functional. I would ensure that the student understands how and when to use certain process.

For academic lessons, I would work according the individuals needs. I like to make lessons enjoyable for the student so that they are actively engaged and motivated to learn. I studied under the American standard curriculum and took AP courses, as well as graduated with an International Baccalaureate degree in high school.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe Illustrator

I have been using Adobe Illustrator for several years and am currently using the CS5 version. I am knowledgeable in the tools and functions in the program, am able to compare this program to other adobe programs and am able to determine when and why it's appropriate to use Illustrator vs. another program. I have personally used it to create graphics, logo designs, and typography assignments for college.

Adobe InDesign

I've used Adobe InDesign for my Communications and Graphics Design course as well as freelance work, so I am familiar with the software at a professional level. Students often wonder about the difference between InDesign and Photoshop. The best way to answer is that InDesign is ideal for creating layouts for print documents. I can assist my students in using the program if they have a specific project to complete from start to finish, from how to set up their new page to how the final should be saved and exporting it into a pdf document. For students who don't have any assignments to be done and just want to understand the program, I can explain all the tools and teach the student how each is used and also teach how to use 'smart guides' and 'rulers' to their advantage so that they understand the benefits of using InDesign when creating documents. It's great for booklets, fliers, packets, brochures, etc.

Adobe Photoshop

I have been using Adobe Photoshop since 2004, and am currently using Adobe Photoshop CS5. I have a good understanding of the program features. Beyond that, I can teach how to create things on the program according to my client's preference such as editing photographs to creating pieces of art, avatars, desktop wallpapers, and much more.

Algebra 1

I was in a higher level/honors level math class from elementary school throughout high school. In high school I have taken AP Statistics and AP Calculus as well as IB math. I would start out with doing a practice test in order to determine the student's current level. If possible, it would help to see any worksheets or syllabus provided by the school. After determining the student's level, I would work on helping the student build a strong foundation, excelling in the strengths while improving on areas that are weak. I design visual aids to help students understand what they are learning and really enjoy it. Improving a student's confidence in the subject is also a priority of mine.

We would work on material such as irrational numbers, square roots, complex numbers, measurements, equations, rational inequalities, rational expressions, fractions, exponents, linear equations, quadratic equations, logarithms, matrices, polynomials, sets, logic, functions, sequences and sums, graphs, and more.

Cooking

I specialize in baking, and have experience baking for more than 15 years. I can teach how to bake some of my original recipes, or work off a recipe you desire. I can help make cakes/cupcakes, cookies, brownies, pancakes, breads, scones, biscuits, muffins, and more. I will work with the student step-by-step and can bring measuring utensils to use for the lesson, and will gift the student a detailed recipe with instructions of what we made to keep. I can also give advice on where to purchase ingredients, how to substitute ingredients when necessary, and teach basic decorating techniques.

I will also make the lessons fun and engaging in order to help the student gain more enthusiasm about the subject in addition to gaining a stronger gasp on what is being taught.

I have done several professional commissioned jobs for Graphic Design. I am experienced with working on various kinds of briefs for both group and individual projects and am able to help critique work so students can improve.

Handwriting

Typography has a tremendous role in my profession as a Graphic Designer. Therefore, precision and accuracy in penmanship is a skill I have had to acquire. I have had to create various typefaces for logo designs using my own handwriting in previous projects.
