I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Special Education and a Master’s degree in Reading. I bring over 30 years of experience teaching students in grades PK–5 across all subject areas, including Special Education. My professional background includes working with students from diverse racial and linguistic backgrounds, as well as students with ADHD, autism, and emotional regulation needs, in both general and special education settings.

Throughout my career, I have taught in the general education classroom, small group and one-on-one instructional settings, including targeted intervention and tutoring. I utilize a systematic, multisensory approach to reading and writing that builds on students’ strengths while directly addressing areas of need. My instruction is intentionally engaging and incorporates games and hands-on activities to foster confidence, motivation, and enjoyment, ensuring students look forward to their learning sessions while making meaningful academic progress.

As a classroom teacher, I taught second- and third-grade students in a general education setting. In my role as a reading specialist, I worked with students in grades PK–5 who required targeted intervention in decoding, fluency, spelling, writing, comprehension, and phonemic awareness. I have also served as a special education teacher, providing specialized instruction and individualized supports for students with autism, ADHD, and self-regulation needs. Additionally, as an English Language Development (ELD) teacher, I supported multilingual learners in developing academic English proficiency.
Homeschool

Homeschool

Provided instructional support in reading, spelling, writing, and math to students who are homeschooled. Additionally, I provide assessments for homeschool students to help parents choose instuctional starting points and appropriate curriculum.
Phonics

I have completed a 30 week practicum under the supervision of a fellow which included weekly lesson plans, videos, feedback, data collection, and extensive professional development. I utilize a multi-sensory, systematic, and sequential approach to phonics which will lead to accurate and fluent reading and spelling that yields confident readers and writers.

Reading instruction has changed a lot in the past decade. I utilize cutting edge research and your child's interests to build vocabulary, background knowledge, and fluency. Your child will become confident and will actually choose to read!
Writing

Writing

Writing is my favorite subject to teach! I utilize current research on explicit and systematic writing instruction and your child's interests to make their writing more organized, developed, cohesive, and clear.
