Hi there! I am a rising junior at Mount St. Mary's University. I am pursuing a major in Biology and a minor in Psychology. Some of my accomplishments include: top 7% of my graduating class, unweighted GPA of 3.8, weighted GPA of 4.6, Congressional Award winner, and 2022 Carson Scholar. I have gained a lot of experience and knowledge as an inclusion support counselor at summer camp where I supported kids with disabilities including ADHD, ADD, and Autism. I helped to teach them activities and make camp a memorable and enjoyable experience. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Literature, Biology, STEM, and Psychology. Through my past tutoring experiences at Varsity Tutors and Club Z Tutoring, I've helped elementary school students prepare for the upcoming school year and high school students have stellar resumes and college essays. While at Mount St. Mary's University, I took on a role as a student researcher. I honed my skills in precision, data analysis, and collaboration. I gained extensive experience reading and interpreting scientific literature, planning experiments, and maintaining meticulous records. I read research articles, planned experiments, conducted wet lab work, and analyzed data. When I start tutoring, the first thing I do is chat with the parents and the student to really understand what's going on. From there, I like to come up with a fun and easy-to-follow plan to help the student feel good about their grades again! During our sessions, we'll tackle problems in a way that builds confidence. We'll start with the basics to make sure they've got a solid foundation, and as they get more comfortable, they'll totally rock those trickier problems. My goal is to help them not just understand a concept, but actually enjoy learning it and feel super capable! I strongly believe education and knowledge is powerful and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. I am committed to making education accessible, empowering, and enjoyable for every student.

Very knowledgeable and flexible tutor

Alyssa was great - she helped me organize my thoughts so that I could put an outline of a paper together. She is aware that I have ADHD and even though I felt like I was rambling, she was able to make sense of my thought process. She is also very patient yet efficient.
