Hi, I'm Noah! I have over 5 years of professional experience as a math and physics tutor. I've worked with students of all ages and backgrounds, but now focus primarily on those in high school, college, and continuing education. I hold a B.S. in Physics from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Maryland. In addition to my years tutoring, I've lectured and TA-ed courses at the undergraduate and graduate level.

I view tutoring as an effective supplement to in-class lectures, online coursework, etc. rather than as a substitute. Because we're working one-on-one, I can focus on engaging students in active learning, which is often missing in those other educational contexts. I'll help break down confusing topics into smaller, more manageable chunks tailored specifically for each student.

I focus on instilling independence and confidence in those I tutor: I've encountered many new students that come to me feeling helpless, like they just can't get their head around some topic or that a class is just impossible. I work hard to break down those walls and empower my students to help themselves by adapting the pace of the learning and simplifying things to the point where the students can work through them.

When tutoring, I strive not just to rehash information presented in class or a textbook; instead, I also focus on designing problem-solving techniques and study strategies for each individual student. These skills, while just as essential to academic success, are often neglected in a classroom setting, and students are otherwise expected to figure them out on their own.

If you're at all interested in employing my services, you can send me a message to set up a free consultation. I'm always easy to reach and respond promptly.

I look forward to meeting you!

Mathematica

Mathematica

As a physicist, I used Mathematica frequently and comprehensively. Not only have I used the program extensively, but I have also had to teach more junior scientists how to use it effectively. Some specific examples of work I've done (available upon request) include: - Carrying out perturbative calculations involving hundreds of terms - Data analysis and visualization - Analytical and numerical PDE solving at high-precision - Package development

Noah S. for Calculus and Physics

Noah S has tutored our child in calculus AB/BC and AP physics for the past 1.5 years. The reason for the duration is that the school teacher was unqualified to teach calculus and Noah had to teach her calculus. He taught so well that our daughter would teach the other kids in class. Just a fabulous, down to earth tutor who is an exceptional tutor and very very smart. We would recommend him to anyone.

Best Tutor Ever!

Noah is an amazing tutor. He has been studying with my daughter, once a week, throughout the school year. He was able to build a great rapport with my daughter and she enjoyed the lessons. Noah is patient and excellent at explaining problems in an understandable way, preparing her for success. Additional practice problems, provided by Noah, deepened her understanding of concepts and increased her efficiency. The recurring lessons have given my daughter a great deal of confidence and resulted in an A+ in physics . She is a sophomore taking AP Physics 1and felt that she was very well prepared for her AP physics test. I can’t recommend Noah enough for his knowledge and professionalism. Fantastic tutor!

Best maths and physics teacher!!!!!!

He is one of the best physics teacher in the universe! There is no question which cannot be answered by Mr Noah. I never imagined a person who is best physics and maths too. My daughter is a junior and taking hardest AP physics C and I strongly believe because of Mr Noah she is able to do good in class. I highly recommend him for both physics and math.

Excellent tutor

I highly recommend Noah, who has been an exceptional math tutor for my daughter. Noah possesses a deep passion for mathematics, which is evident in every session. This enthusiasm has been incredibly contagious, sparking a newfound interest in my daughter. He has a remarkable ability to simplify complex concepts, making them accessible and engaging. My daughter has gained a solid understanding of the material, thanks to Noah’s clear and patient explanations. One of the most impressive qualities of Noah is his adaptability. He tailors each lesson to my daughter’s learning style, ensuring that she grasps each topic thoroughly before moving on. This personalized approach has significantly boosted her confidence and performance in math. Moreover, Noah is incredibly patient and empathetic. He creates a supportive learning environment where my daughter feels comfortable asking questions and expressing any difficulties she encounters. This has been instrumental in her progress and has made learning math a positive experience. This level of dedication and commitment is truly commendable.

Super knowledgeable

My son is taking Calc BC, Naoh explained the concepts in detail, and I'm happy to report my son had a great smile on his face after the hour lesson. We have scheduled a pre-test review in a couple of weeks.

Excellent!

Noah was on time and extremely professional! We are very pleased with his teaching style, his details oriented but still his links to geometry concept. We are very pleased to having met Noah!

Very responsive tutor.

Noah met with my son in person for their first session and my son of few words said he was "really helpful" in talking through the concepts. Never saw him smile before in talking about physics! I am sure they will be meeting regularly from now on.

Really pulled through for my daughter

Headed into a college engineering physics test he prepped me daughter for the test and made sure she understood the basic concepts well too. We expect to work with Noah through the rest of the course for sure.

Great teacher. My son absolutely loved working with him

Noah helped my son with his difficult physics assignment. My son felt very comfortable after two classes with Noa. I am hoping to use his help going forward. I also learned from him that he can teach mathematics and physics. I might also consider lessons from my both boys on those topics.
