Bio

Hi, I'm Shreya! I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in May 2025 with a Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering and minor in Chemistry. I've been tutoring for about 6 years, starting with math in high school and Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry in college. I've taken some of the most challenging pre-med and engineering courses, and I know how overwhelming they can be. What made the difference for me was having supportive, engaging professors and TAs who broke concepts down in a way that made sense, and that's the approach I bring to my sessions.

Whether students are preparing for big exams or need helping creating an organized study plan, I'll always meet them where they are. My focus is first figuring out where students are having the most difficulty and then helping them understand the "why" behind every concept. My goal is always to improve students' confidence in a subject rather than encouraging memorization.

I'm available to tutor several science and engineering subjects. I am also available to tutor SAT prep (my score was a 1590/1600). Currently, I offer virtual tutoring (via Zoom, Google Meet, etc.) on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Approved Subjects

Biochemistry

Biochemistry

I received an A+ in Principles of Biological Chemistry (CHEM 2510) at the University of Pennsylvania. Biochemistry was one of my favorite courses, especially when learning about the metabolic pathways. I've found that it can take some repetition to fully understand each pathway or mechanism, but my goal is to help students develop effective study strategies and help them understand the "why" behind every step in a pathway so that they're prepared to reason through any type of problem.
Chemical Engineering

Chemical Engineering

I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering and minor in Chemistry. I took and excelled in several engineering courses: Calculus I/II/III, Biomechanics, Biomaterials, Bioengineering Laboratory I/II, Biostatistics, Bioengineering Signals & Systems, Cellular Engineering, Introduction to Biotransport Processes (Fluids), Immunology for Bioengineers, Immune Engineering, Independent Study in Bioengineering (4+ years basic and translational research experience), Senior Design Project (medical device design). I have several years of programming experience in Java, Python, Matlab, and R, as well as experience using the engineering design process for projects.
Organic Chemistry

Organic Chemistry

I received an A in both Organic Chemistry I and II (with lab) at the University of Pennsylvania. I also tutored Organic Chemistry for 2 years at the University of Pennsylvania's Weingarten Center. I know this course is notorious for being difficult, but I've found that using the right problem-solving techniques can make the subject significantly easier. My goal is to help students understand why reactions happen the way they do and what patterns to look for, rather than emphasizing rote memorization.
Physiology

Physiology

I received an A in Principles of Human Physiology (BIOL 3310) at the University of Pennsylvania. Though the course was challenging and involved learning a large amount of information, I thoroughly enjoyed learning how each system worked together in the human body. My goal is to show students how to effectively study complex physiological diagrams and mechanisms without memorization.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I received an 800/800 on the SAT Math section and I am excited to teach not only concepts but also strategies for approaching SAT questions.
