The school year is quickly coming to an end. What are your summer plans? I will be offering new summer rates but slots fill quickly. Call now to schedule the time that fits your needs. Let’s work together to keep your child in tip top shape for the next school year! I work with all levels of students and needs. Helping them to become successful, confident and comfortable with learning. My students have different learning abilities. And that is where we start, building on the abilities they already have and helping them develop skills to continue learning. Unlocking the brilliance each student has and watching them become independent is a process but we will work together to make this happen. For 20+ years it has been my honor to work with families in person and online building these success stories.

And as always Remember:

"Every Child learns at their own pace, and sometimes this pace is not keeping up with the pace in a classroom. If your child is becoming frustrated, and their grades are starting to slip, now is the time to teach the way each child learns.

In my years of teaching and tutoring, I have found that as the grades fall, so does the confidence. When a child loses confidence, their ability to learn new information decreases. This snowball effect continues unless steps are taken to improve confidence."
Individualized one-on-one tutoring, and developing strategies to help your child learn and retain information, will keep this school year from becoming a negative one.

Working together, Students, Parents, Teachers, and Tutors, your child has the best chance in achieving the knowledge and grades necessary for a great learning experience and a Great Report Card!

Are you ready to develop a plan to move you child forward, boost confidence, and improve on those grades?

E-mail me, we will work on a plan together.

ADHD

ADHD

Having a diagnosis of ADD and ADHD does not mean an inability to comprehend and retain information. It is a life style, and a process of adjustments, to achieve the ability to learn in environments not learning friendly to those thus diagnosed. Recognizing signs early, children learn to adjust as they grow. As an educator, I have worked with parents, developed a plan, and encouraged children to participate in their plan. When they have some control, they are better prepared to carry out day to day activities with a better attitude and more success.
Common Core

Common Core

These State standards for Math and Language Arts were set to ensure all students graduate from High School with the skills necessary to succeed in College and Career. When working with students, we not only apply these concepts to pen and paper, but discuss how they will further them in life skills. As students learn how concepts directly affect them in life, they become more important to learn.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary Education not only includes the basics in Math, English, Literacy, Science, Geography and History, but also establishes the child's place in society. Each child grows in their independence and learns skills to prepare them for success during their academic career. Educational success at this level is achieved with positive reinforcement in the classroom and at home. Each year the basics are reiterated and become more sophisticated as students advance in their studies. Tutoring at this level will reinforce these basic skills and will fill in the gaps sometimes missed as a student advances in their studies. I began my teaching career in the 4th through 6th grade levels. I soon discovered that many students were losing ground in advancing because of gaps in the very fundamentals of their education. I chose to work at the 1st grade to work on the basic reading, phonics, and math concepts that ensure each student is ready to move ahead with confidence to the next level of learning. The student's joy in learning these skills that would serve them a lifetime, was indescribable! By empowering them with the basics, I was able to watch them move through the years building on each level as well-adjusted students and young adults. Today, I still stay in touch with many of my students; most have completed college, and started families. These same concepts I used in the school setting, I use with my students in tutoring, Parents and teachers are seeing the improvements in skills as well as attitudes.
Handwriting

Handwriting

As Children enter to world of iPads and computers, handwriting is becoming a lost art. From forming the letters correctly in standard and cursive, to finding and correcting mistakes, to being able to communicate if the electricity goes out, and to understand what they have written, handwriting is a large part of each child's ability to communicate. From 3 year olds to high school handwriting has always been an important part of the learning process.
Phonics

Phonics

Learning to read is an exciting time for students. The basics of reading start with letter sounds and blends. As students learn the sounds and how to blend them together they are excited to sound out words and find themselves reading words and sentences independently. Sometimes this takes a little longer to comprehend and not reading accurately can affect your child"s ability to move forward with other school work. As they learn to read with more accuracy grades in other areas will also improve. In a private school setting I have taught the phonetic value of letters, blends, and syllables, rhyming, and word families. In my years of tutoring, I have helped students build reading skills and become more successful in their studies.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

Every year I work with students in Prealgebra building skills and confidence so they can move forward in their studies.
Social Studies

Social Studies

Students gain insight as we discuss and learn about the world today and how it has been impacted by past events. I have taught World War I and II, and government. Understanding the past helps us to improve on the future.
Special Needs

Special Needs

Every Student learns differently. I evaluate and address what is needed to successfully help each student, at their level of comfort. I work with many students that have existing IEP's, and work with their teachers of help them become successful
Study Skills

Study Skills

Learning how to study, is almost more important than the actual study time. I have always encouraged students to take notes, or highlight important concepts to make finding them quick and easy. This way time is not wasted while reviewing material. You have already made your own "cliff notes" and study what is really important.

Awesome and Experienced Tutor

Mrs. Diana is very knowledgeable, patient, and experienced, which is demonstrated through her unique individualized teaching styles. She keeps our son interested and focused during the entire hour, which is amazing to us. Our son enjoys his one hour lesson every week with Mrs. Diana because she is always trying different activities and games. Mrs. Diana makes her lessons fun for her students, and it shows with our son who has an attention problem. We look forward to our son's future lessons with Mrs. Diana.

Excellent tutor

Diana was patient, she was great at explaining the basic concepts. My son began his tutoring session unsure and insecure. After just one lesson his confidence was visible. I can’t wait until the next lesson.

Off to a Nice Start!

The first lesson with Diana was off to a great start. My son seemed to enjoy working with her and her patience seemed evident in his "recap" of the lesson. He seemed excited to finish the work sheets she left for him as practice. Looking forward to working with her.

Very patient and understanding

Diana has really helped my daughter with her reading/math comprehension. My daughter was struggling in reading and math and she was able to help her by teaching her a better to tackle her words and an easier way to do math. My daughter feels more confident now.

Exceptional & Results Driven Tutor!

Ms. Diana is the ideal match for my daughter! She’s engaging, encouraging, reliable, patient and always professional. Ms. Diana asks leading questions to help my daughter understand the skills and concepts taught. The sessions held thus far has enabled my daughter to focus directly on the process of learning rather than the correctness of the answer. In addition, Ms. Diana is sensitive to my daughter’s learning style and explains the concepts from several angles; this approach has helped my daughter’s self-esteem tremendously. My daughter is excelling under her tutelage and I am extremely satisfied. I highly recommend Ms. Diana!

Well prepared tutor

Diana is always well prepared and intuitive when it comes to helping Major. She immediately understands his trouble spots, and focuses on them; without making it painful, until Major can consistently work through them. She knows when to go back and reinforce previously covered techniques, and when Major is ready for more of a challenge. She's a perfect fit for Major's requirements.
