Approved Subjects

Biology

Biology

I have advanced coursework in Biology and Biotechnology and have used these skills in professional and academic laboratory settings. I was an AP Biology tutor through the National Honors Society program. I help students perfect their study and organizational skills, which is key in a memorization heavy subject like Biology.
Epidemiology

Epidemiology

I worked as a CDC contractor Epidemiologist. I received extensive statistics and public health education from the top educators in the country. I can help students learn the fundamentals of "epi" along with programming languages and provide guidance on how to design research studies.
ESL/ESOL

ESL/ESOL

My first experience tutoring ESL was in Paris working with a 5 and 8-year-old brother and sister. I then volunteered as a reading buddy and homework helper for 2 years in underserved communities. As a language learner and teacher, I know that immersion and positive reinforcement can go very far when teaching a new language.
French

French

Currently working for the CDC in a Francophone Program Management fellowship; I studied French at Sorbonne University in Paris, France. After 15 years of speaking the language and tutoring, I've gained insight on how to best teach languages. I use interactive videos and activities and current events to immerse my students in the French language and culture.
Reading

Reading

As a tutor, helping younger students succeed early in reading and writing is very rewarding. I have acted as a reading buddy, ESL tutor and language arts tutor for students as young as 4. I am very positive and patient and I have experience working with children with ADHD as well.
SAS

SAS

As an epidemiologist, I use SAS frequently to manage, manipulate, and analyze data. I currently work with CDC to develop and algorithm in SAS to predict readiness for public health disasters. I have recent training executing biostatistical and data visualization methods in SAS.

Very patient

She was very patient. English is my third language, so I have a hard time understanding what my assignments require. When my professor was not helpful enough, I reached out to her, and she was very patient and able to break down the assignment. She explained what was required in a way I could understand.

Knowledgeable, kind, and encouraging tutor

I've been looking for a good SAS tutor for months and I finally found Amylee. This subject is difficult and there are not many experts out there; Amylee is very kind, knowledgable, and supportive. She is great at helping me understand the more tricky concepts which I appreciate. Couldn't recommend Amylee more!!

Great Welcome

Amylee did an amazing job challenging my daughter. Although it was the first session she left confident and still excited about learning and future sessions. My daughter worked on developing a vocabulary worksheet. We had an opportunity to introduce ourselves, our goals and some of the challenges my daughter is having. The session concluded with goals for the next session to be complete prior to meeting.
