Hi, my name is Arkhip, and I am currently pursuing double Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science (Quantum Information track) and Physics at the University of Maryland, College Park, where I maintain Dean's List honors. My educational background combines advanced STEM coursework (Calculus III, Differential Equations, Discrete Structures, Linear Algebra, and Computer Systems) with a 3.99 high school GPA and top academic awards. Beyond the classroom, I work as an undergraduate researcher in computational physics at UMD's FloQuET Lab and as a full-stack software developer engineering production management applications using a variety of languages and technologies. This hands-on technical background allows me to break down complex topics in Python, Data Structures, Calculus, and Physics into manageable, intuitive concepts.

I have been actively teaching and mentoring students for over three years in one-on-one and small group settings. From 2022 to 2025, I served as an official peer tutor at my high school, working directly with students aged 14 to 18 in Latin, Spanish, and mathematics. Beyond language tutoring, I served as lead programmer for our robotics team, where I spent two years mentoring newer students in embedded C and Python programming. Both of these experiences taught me how to adapt my communication style to fit a student's needs, whether working with a beginner coder, an AP STEM student, or a student mastering a foreign language.

My teaching philosophy centers on intuitive, logical reasoning from fundamentals rather rote memorization of advanced concepts, as I believe that furthers understanding, and therefore performance. I structure lessons around active, real-time problem solving and immediate feedback, equipping students with clear strategies so they can build long-term confidence through independent practice.

I scored a 35 on ACT Math and a 35 composite, placing in roughly the top 1 percent of test takers nationally. My background is in physics and computer science, so I can connect ACT problems to the deeper reasoning that makes them fast and intuitive rather than a set of disconnected tricks. I focus on the highest-yield areas of the test, algebra, coordinate geometry, and the timing traps that cost strong students points, and I teach repeatable methods for each. My goal is not just a higher score but a student who understands why each approach works, which is what makes gains stick under time pressure.

I am a Computer Science and Physics double major at the University of Maryland and an undergraduate researcher in quantum computing, where the work runs on compiled, performance-sensitive code and on the same memory model, type system, and build tooling that C++ students are asked to master. I spent a year as an AI trainer evaluating and correcting AI-generated C++ alongside Java, Python, and Swift, which means I have read and debugged an unusually large volume of other people's C++ and can locate where a misunderstanding actually begins rather than just patching the symptom. My experience with pointers, references, memory management, classes and inheritance, templates, and the standard library comes from both coursework and building real systems that had to compile, run correctly, and stay fast.

I am a Computer Science (Quantum Information) and Physics double-degree student at the University of Maryland with a strong calculus background across the full sequence. I earned a 5 on AP Calculus BC and completed Calculus III, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, and the calculus-based physics sequence covering mechanics, fields, and waves. Because I use calculus every day in my quantum computing research, I am comfortable moving between the computational side (limits, derivatives, integration techniques, series convergence) and the applied side (related rates, optimization, work and flux integrals, physical setups). My tutoring approach is to diagnose which connection to first principles is missing, and then rebuild that step so the student is not simply memorizing an advance technique out of context.

Professionally, I spent over a year evaluating and correcting Java code written by AI systems, which required reading unfamiliar code closely and diagnosing precise failure points. I also work as a full-stack software developer, so I can connect textbook Java concepts such as inheritance, interfaces, generics, and collections to how they actually appear in production systems. I served as head Latin tutor at my school's language center for three years, tutoring peers daily, and that experience taught me to understand exactly where a student's understanding breaks down to simply restating the answer.

I have three years of tutoring experience and I am a dual-degree student at the University of Maryland in Computer Science (Quantum Information track) and Physics. I studied linear algebra in high school and tested into credit for it at Maryland, and I have used it constantly since: it is the working language of my quantum simulation research at UMD's FloQuET Lab and of a symbolic engine I am building that reasons about linear maps on systems of arbitrary dimension. I cover the full standard sequence, including row reduction, matrix algebra, determinants, vector spaces, bases and dimension, rank-nullity, linear transformations, eigenvalues, diagonalization, orthogonality, and least squares. My approach is to build the geometric intuition first and hang the computation on it, because I believe that the challenge is in abstract intuition, not the math itself.
