Hi! My name is Victoria, and I'm from Argentina. I hold a Ph.D. in Spanish Language and Latin American Literature and Culture from the University of Maryland. I have seven years of experience teaching Spanish at the university level in the United States. I completed my doctoral studies in December 2024 and have taught a wide range of Spanish courses, including intermediate and advanced language, grammar and composition, reading and writing, conversation, and Spanish for academic and professional purposes. My academic background provides a strong foundation in Spanish grammar, vocabulary, and cultural context.
Throughout my teaching career, I have worked primarily with college-aged students and adults in both classroom settings and one-on-one academic support. I have extensive experience helping students improve grammar, strengthen writing skills, expand vocabulary, and gain confidence in speaking. My tutoring approach is student-centered and flexible: I assess each learner’s goals, strengths, and challenges, and adapt my methods accordingly. I emphasize clarity, practical usage, and meaningful communication rather than rote memorization.
I believe that effective language learning requires empathy and trust. Many students come to tutoring feeling frustrated or anxious due to past experiences with language learning, and I take those emotional aspects seriously. I strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and progressing at their own pace. By combining clear guidance, real-world materials, and thoughtful feedback, my goal is to help students feel confident, capable, and empowered using Spanish in real contexts.
