Hello! My name is Hrishi, and I’m currently an Applied Mathematics major at the University of Maryland, College Park. I have a strong background in high school and early college-level mathematics, including algebra, precalculus, calculus, linear algebra, and introductory proof-based topics. Much of my academic work focuses on understanding why mathematical ideas work, not just how to apply formulas, and that perspective strongly shapes the way I tutor. I’ve worked with middle school, high school, and early college students in one-on-one and small-group settings, helping them strengthen foundations, prepare for exams, and gain confidence in subjects that once felt intimidating.
My tutoring style is highly personalized and concept-focused. I believe that most students struggle in math not because they “aren’t good at it,” but because the material was presented too quickly or without enough intuition. When working with students, I focus on breaking problems into clear steps, explaining ideas visually when possible, and encouraging students to talk through their thinking so we can identify exactly where confusion begins. I adapt my explanations to each student’s learning style — whether that means using diagrams, real-world analogies, or structured problem-solving frameworks — and I aim to help students become more independent and confident learners over time.
Above all, I try to create a supportive, low-pressure learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Whether you’re trying to improve your grades, prepare for an upcoming exam, or rebuild confidence in math from the ground up, my goal is to meet you where you are and help you move forward with clarity and confidence.
