Hello! My name is Hrishi, and I’m currently an Applied Mathematics major at the University of Maryland, College Park. I have a strong background in high school and early college-level mathematics, including algebra, precalculus, calculus, linear algebra, and introductory proof-based topics. Much of my academic work focuses on understanding why mathematical ideas work, not just how to apply formulas, and that perspective strongly shapes the way I tutor. I’ve worked with middle school, high school, and early college students in one-on-one and small-group settings, helping them strengthen foundations, prepare for exams, and gain confidence in subjects that once felt intimidating.

My tutoring style is highly personalized and concept-focused. I believe that most students struggle in math not because they “aren’t good at it,” but because the material was presented too quickly or without enough intuition. When working with students, I focus on breaking problems into clear steps, explaining ideas visually when possible, and encouraging students to talk through their thinking so we can identify exactly where confusion begins. I adapt my explanations to each student’s learning style — whether that means using diagrams, real-world analogies, or structured problem-solving frameworks — and I aim to help students become more independent and confident learners over time.
Above all, I try to create a supportive, low-pressure learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Whether you’re trying to improve your grades, prepare for an upcoming exam, or rebuild confidence in math from the ground up, my goal is to meet you where you are and help you move forward with clarity and confidence.

Perfect Math Score on SAT Mathematics Major, extensive experience in algebra Perfect score on Calculus BC exam Tutored SAT Math Cohort - brought students up an average of ~150 points from original score
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

Applied Mathematics student at the University of Maryland with strong preparation in proof-based and computational mathematics Active research experience in quantum information theory, so you can connect linear algebra directly to real quantum applications rather than teaching it as an isolated subject Especially strong in linear algebra, including vector spaces, linear transformations, matrices, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, diagonalization, inner product spaces, orthogonality, spectral ideas, and basis changes Comfortable explaining how linear algebra appears in quantum settings such as state vectors, complex vector spaces, tensor products, operators, observables, unitary matrices, Hermitian matrices, eigenstates, and measurement Able to teach both the intuition and the formal math, depending on the student’s level Comfortable with abstract reasoning, proofs, and building understanding from first principles Strong one-on-one teaching style focused on clarity, patience, and adapting explanations to the student rather than forcing a rigid script Good fit for students who want either a first introduction to linear algebra for quantum or a deeper, more mathematically rigorous understanding
