Hi, my name is Eli! I am currently a Sophomore at the University of Maryland, though I am a Junior by credits and courses taken. I am a double major in Psychology as well as Criminology and Criminal Justice. I am also adding a minor in Law and Society. I have experience as a Teachers Assistant (TA) for two different courses in college, one being a introduction to university and the other being a research focused course, in classes of around 30 to 40 students. This means I am more than happy to offering tutoring to all grade levels including college-level students or students enrolled in college level courses. I have the most experience with introductory level courses in Psychology, Criminal Justice, and English or Writing. However, depending on the level of the class I am able to help with the majority of social studies focused curriculums.

Additionally, I am an Undergraduate Researcher working primarily within archival research with a social studies focus, so I have experience teaching introductory level practices within research environments for students. Throughout high school I took numerous AP level classes, so I am familiar with that level of course content for students in high school, especially if they are upperclassmen. For three years in high school, I worked with students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, teaching them to expand their capabilities in the classroom setting in subjects like Art and P.E. so I feel comfortable working with students who may need extra support and other services. To build on this, I am also someone who utilized Accessibility and Disability Services (ADS) in high school with my 504 plan, so I am very familiar with students who have these accommodations and how they pertain to classroom spaces, homework, and testing.

High School Placement Test

High School Placement Test

I am from Chicago where several public high schools are Selective Enrollment High Schools. I went to Jones College Preparatory which was a SEHS. In eighth grade I navigated the selective enrollment placement exam, completing test prep and tutoring to get a good enough score for a top three public high school in the city. Additionally the way the system functioned at the time required seventh grade GPA and seventh grade MAP testing scores alongside the placement exam as it was compiled into a 900 point total score. So, I am very familiar with how these processes function and the necessary steps to achieve high enough scores for these competitive schools.
