I am applying for a part-time position to support students in learning Chinese. As a foreign language learner, I have gained valuable experience studying a second language, which helps me understand learners’ challenges. I aim to apply these insights to create engaging and effective Chinese learning experiences.

I have over ten years of teaching experience and hold official Mandarin Chinese teaching certifications in both Maryland and Washington, D.C. Throughout my career, I have taught a wide range of students from Pre-K through adult learners, covering IB, AP, and HSK curriculum content. My teaching experience includes formal classroom instruction, one-on-one tutoring, and customized language programs designed for learners with diverse goals and backgrounds.

My teaching philosophy centers on creating engaging, meaningful, and student-centered learning experiences. I believe that language learning is most effective when students are actively involved, so I frequently incorporate project-based learning, interactive activities, and learning-by-doing strategies into my lessons. I also adapt my teaching style to meet each student’s individual needs, whether the focus is academic success, test preparation, or conversational fluency.

Over the years, I have guided students to achieve measurable progress in their Chinese proficiency and cultural understanding. Many of my students have succeeded in AP and IB Chinese exams or passed HSK at various levels. I take pride in helping each learner build confidence, curiosity, and a genuine appreciation for the Chinese language and culture.
