I am a native Korean speaker who lived in Korea for 13 years, where I completed both elementary and middle school before moving to the United States. As a bilingual student, I understand the challenges of learning a new language and adapting to a different culture, which helps me relate to students from a wide range of backgrounds. I am currently an incoming Chemical Engineering student at the University of Maryland and enjoy helping others build confidence in Korean through practical communication and cultural understanding.
My teaching experience includes volunteering as an assistant teacher at a Korean church language school, where I worked with elementary and middle school students in both classroom and small-group settings. I supported Korean reading, writing, pronunciation, and conversational practice, and occasionally led lessons when teachers were unavailable. I also teach one-on-one online lessons to students of different ages and learning goals, ranging from young beginners to adults interested in conversational Korean, travel, Korean culture, or communicating with family members.
I believe every student learns differently, so I create personalized lessons based on each student's goals, interests, and learning pace. Rather than relying only on memorization, I focus on practical conversation, pronunciation, and real-life situations while introducing Korean culture to make lessons engaging and meaningful. Whether a student wants to learn Hangul, improve speaking confidence, prepare for travel, or simply enjoy Korean through K-pop and K-dramas, I strive to create a supportive, encouraging environment where they can make steady progress and enjoy the learning process.
