LSU Med Ctr/Southern Univ and A&M College (Medical Technology)
Dear Potential Student,
My name is Terry P. and I have a very strong interest in helping students (such as yourself) to expand their knowledge base in order to perform their best in school. I have always had a passion for helping others succeed beginning as a 7th grade student, when I was chosen to help students in the lower grades with their math and reading assignments. As I matriculated to high school, the same need existed whereby I would help freshman with developing good study habits, as well as assist them with their math assignments. As a freshman at Louisiana State University (LSU), I helped the athletes improve their persuasive writing skills by proofreading their work and offering restructuring of their papers. Later, as a career Supervisor in the Blood Bank at DeWitt Army hospital at Fort Belvoir, VA, I became the key instructor in laboratory studies for the military Medical Lab Technicians. This included areas of study such as Chemistry analysis, Hematology/Coagulation, Urinalysis and Microbiology. Oftentimes, they would also need help with math associated with the MLT preparatory exam for certification.
My style of teaching is very much a free-style, where I relate the material to the students' interest. For example, if they are a basketball enthusiast, I will relate the understanding of percentage to shooting free throws. If you are into gymanstics, the dynamics of flips and aerial somersaults might be related to both geometry and physics. If you like to read, then that same passion is developed as it applies to a particular class, where the reading may be uninteresting. I like interject humor into my teaching style, to make whatever concept you have struggles with easier to understand. I strongly believe in my ability to help you conquer your learning challenge(s) and look forward to working with you. Dear Potential Student,

The pleasure is all mine as I am really enjoying working with your son. He is bright, articulates himself really well and doesn't mind being challenged. He is open-minded to learning newer concepts which is always an edge for students desiring to reach the apex in academics. Thank you for your vote of confidence in my services to assist your son.

Terry is a terrific tutor and she always make a difficult lesson seem so simple. She's doing great job in building my daughter's confidence in Algebra. Ms. Terry P. keep up the great work!
I love the fun we have while understanding math . Math is so ugly to me that I need to lighten up sometime & not get so stressed out about it . Terry helps me with the basic as well with what I need to know for college algebra?? I recommend her to everyone
What I liked most about Ms. Terry was her overall assessment of my son's issues with learning. She went above and beyond with wanting to get to know my son, as well as myself. These are key areas in my opinion. How can you help someone if you don't know how they learn? I have tried other tutors in the past, but now I have found someone that can truly take my child to the next level. If you want someone that is paying attention to your child's needs, call Ms. Terry.
Terry is very patient, creative, and knowledgeable. She knows how to get people excited about math and is able to teach any age group. She works with your schedule and is a friendly joyful person.
Terry is awesome. She is patient and know how to use different tactics to help my daughter prepare for her exam. She makes learning fun which is always a plus. She understands the importance of the student and she is caring and passionate about what she does. She shows that she is invested in my daughters education and that is wonderful for me.
Thank you so much for the vote of confidence. I am always endeavoring to use my God-inspired gift to be a blessing to everyone I meet.
Terry is teaching my 8th grade son. He is learning 8th and 9th grade math. My son has never had an "A" in math, but after Terry's teaching he made his first "A" in math.
Terry is a great tutor. Patient and knowledgeable. She shows how to solve problems step by step, explains what and why certain formulas are used and also explains what rules need to be applied when solving problems. My son has more confidence in himself and is very glad to have Ms. Terry as his tutor.
Ms. Terry is very patient. My daughter responds very well, and understands what she is being taught. My husband and I are very happy with choosing Ms. Terry as our daughter's tutor.
SAT Math, Ms. Terry is so nice and funny, and she always helps me until I get the answer correct.
She's teaching me a easier way of doing math. She takes her time with me. And she makes learning fun! I love her teaching methods.

My daughter can be difficult when it comes to her school work and learning. Mrs. Terry has a gift with working with children. She is extremely patient and can really pull things out of my daughter. She makes it fun and not like school work. She is an “outstanding” tutor!
I appreciate Terry's enthusiasm and commitment to assisting my daughter in math. She goes above and beyond to ensure that my daughter has grasped the concepts being worked on.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I was an A student in Algebra 1 & 2, a B+ student in Trigonometry, and exempted from college math due to high ACT/SAT scores. I am very fond of math.
In addition to successfully passing a qualifications exam administered by the site, I have experience working with young military soldiers in preparation for passing licensing exams as medical laboratory technicians. At least three (3) of my trained soldiers are currently employed as shift leaders/supervisors in various states including Washington, Oregon and New Jersey.
I've played the game from ages 8-40: 2-time Co-MVP at Wes Unseld's basketball camp 1976, 1977; 4-yr varsity letterman at Academy of the Holy Names, Silver Spring, MD 1976-1980; WACA All-Star Sr. yr; walk-on with LSU Tigers, 1981; semi-pro league with D.C., Champs 1987-1989; runner-up in WAMAC Championship 1995-1996 at Fort Belvoir.
I served in the capacity of mentor as a 7th grader, to children in the 1st and 3rd grades to help them with reading and vocabulary. I have worked with my own 3 children in the same capacity since they were about the same ages as the students I've mentored.
I currently teach biblical studies to kids ages 10-13 yrs. old, relating the principles to their everyday challenges in school. Oftentimes, we use the opportunity to address specific challenges in math they may be having in school. Reading skills are assessed by having the students read certain verses of scripture, usually using an unedited version.
I am a member of the drama ministry and on occasion work with the children to learn their lines. This helps them learn to focus on improving their memory, especially when it comes to preparation for tests in school.
I have always been very passionate about math, ever since elementary school. I attained A's in most classes and exempted from college level math due to high ACT and SAT scores, instantly earning 5 credit hours. I truly have a strong fondness for math and enjoy teaching its concepts to others.
Preparing for the GED is much like preparing for any other standardized tests. You've been studying and now it's time to get strategy to do your best! I can help you in that area. I have been working with students since I was a middle school student myself. This is my gifted area and my students have been very successful.
I have a BS in Medical Technology, where Genetics was a required course of study. I've been a blood banker for the past 12 yrs., and Genetics background is a critical element of the position.
I tutored the subject while a high school student, helping a classmate pass to meet graduation requirement. A recent student was failing Geometry while a student at Oxon Hill high school, when her mother reached out for my assistance. That student finished the year with a "B" and is now enrolled at Bowie State University.
My love for math is the main reason I became involved with this site. I was a very good student who was always called upon by classmates beginning in elementary. If you give me the opportunity, you will be satisfied with the results.
I enrolled in a class for Public Speaking at Louisiana State University, 1981; conducted Newcomer's Orientation as a Blood Bank supervisor at Fort Belvoir Community hospital for the better of 5 yrs. I also frequently speak at financial seminars.
Consistently assisted fellow classmates with reading and writing skills throughout middle school years. I tutored college freshman athletes while a student at Louisiana State Univ (LSU). Due to high reading/writing ACT scores, I nearly exempted from having to take college entry-level writing course. I have edited the work of engineers and military officers alike. My own three (3) children have excelled through elementary years into college with their writing skills, and my 3rd grader has been recognized for awarded the Principal's Award for academic excellence in each marking period since starting Elementary School.
I was always very fond of math as both an elementary school and high school student. Due to high SAT and ACT math scores, I exempted from having to take entry-level college math earning 5 credits towards my degree. I was able to start directly into the College of Engineering at LSU, enrolling in Calculus I.
As a high school senior, I sought help to improve my SAT Reading scores. My instructor happened to be my principal who had experience as an English professor at the prestigious Brown University of the Ivy league. I like to think I was tutored by the best in the field and now endeavor to help others in the same manner.
I started playing softball in middle school and played co-ed slow pitch as an adult and fast pitch with an all female team that became the DC Women's League Champion in 1987 or 1988.
I had the privilege of recently assisting a young lady with her application to the University of Georgia Law School, whom I have known since she was a middle school student.
She graduated Summa Cum Laude from UNC - Greensboro and is now a commissioned officer with the US Air Force in the Judge Advocate Gen. (JAG) Office while stationed in Germany. She apparently trusted enough in my ability to assist her and I am glad I was able to help in a small way. Considering her academic accomplishments, she didn't really need me; however, something I've imparted in her life suggested otherwise.
