I am a Doctor of Nursing Practice Family Nurse Practitioner with 14 years of military & civilian nursing experience in Emergency Nursing, Med/Surg, and currently Family Practice. I completed an intensive post-doctoral Primary Care residency with Johns Hopkins. Past teaching experience: Trauma Training Instructor for the US Navy Corpsman Trauma Training Program at Cook County in Chicago, IL, teaching didactic & trauma/life-saving skills to 20+ junior sailors to prepare them for deployments/acute care settings. Course Director/Lead Instructor for 4 years for a hospital-wide AHRQ TeamSTEPPS Program, teaching ~20 hospital staff members monthly in effective communication skills. In NP school, I was a school-designated student mentor for NP students. I have precepted 2 NP's, 16+ new RN's/LPN's, 8 RN/LPN students, and 80+ Navy Corpsman/CNA's.

I have been tutoring for 3 years, and I love it! 1 on 1 tutoring offers the unique opportunity to customize material to my student's individual style, so they can have the always satisfying "Ah-ha!" moment. I would describe myself as bubbly, dedicated, diligent, and patient. I strive to make my sessions fun & relatable to help with content retention & because, well, nursing is the best! Currently, my students have A averages in Health Asst, Adult Health, Diagnosis/Mgmt classes. I tutor a small number of students, so I can be accessible & prep well.

I would love to help you with speaking and english writing assignments. Reading/writing has always been a very strong area for me. I especially enjoy doing grammar/rewriting edits, APA formatting, and paper structuring. Additionally, I have extensive doctoral level writing experience, with a heavy emphasis on researching databases and data review/appraisal. Of note, I completed database publishing of a 100+ plus, doctoral level, quality improvement project. I have a very friendly and patient demeanor, with a desire to help others succeed, especially when it comes to scholarly topics!

I have precepted many LPN, BSN, doctoral nursing students, helping them to ready themselves for board exams. Personally, I did 1600+ review questions and two review courses when preparing for my NCLEX exam- I treated it like a full-time job, and am versed in the preparatory process. I have maintained my BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications, and have my Certification in Emergency Nursing, demonstrating my commitment to staying clinically relevant in nursing.

Shannon and I have covered several disease processes for Adult Health Theory II for my ABSN program. She is clearly knowledgeable and adept at helping a person to understand and grasp nursing concepts/processes (ADPIE) and even goes above and beyond to address NCLEX-style questions and thought processes.
