I have 14 years of military & civilian nursing experience in Med/Surg, Emergency Nursing, and more recently Primary Care/Family Practice as a Doctoral-prepared Family Nurse Practitioner. I have teaching experience as a hand-selected Trauma Training Instructor for the US Navy Corpsman Trauma Training Program at Cook County in Chicago, IL, where I taught in-classroom didactic & hands-on trauma/life-saving skills to 12 junior sailors to prepare them for deployments & acute care settings. Additionally, I was a Course Director/Lead Instructor for the AHRQ's TeamSTEPPS Program, teaching approx 20 hospital staff members’ monthly in good communication/teamwork skills, to total over 1100 students. While in graduate school, I was a school-appointed NP student mentor for 2 junior NP students. Lastly, I have cumulative experience precepting 2 NP's, 16+ new RN's/LPN's, 8 RN/LPN students, and 80+ Navy Corpsman/CNA's in everyday clinical skills & knowledge - it has been a blast!

I have been tutoring for 3 years, and I love it! 1 on 1 tutoring provides me with the unique opportunity to customize material to my student's individual style, so they can have the always satisfying "Ah-ha!" moment. I would describe myself as bubbly, dedicated, hard-working, and patient. I strive to make my sessions fun & relatable because it helps with content retention & because, quite frankly, nursing is the best!

I enjoy teaching anatomy/physiology, pathophysio, med/surg, adult health, peds/OB, health promo, NCLEX, AANP FNP - if you don't see your subject, just message me as I can likely help. I actively maintain multiple professional and resuscitative medicine certifications, which have allowed me to develop a good understanding of testing psychology and formal exam structure. I stay current by doing Kaplan, UWorld, Saunders, Fitzgerald, Sarah Michelle test prep questions and CE's. I have many tips & tricks to share for both nursing schools & board exams. Please reach out as I am happy to talk to you & see if we are a good fit!

Incredibly knowledgable, proactive and helpful tutor!

Shannon and I have covered several disease processes for Adult Health Theory II for my ABSN program. She is clearly knowledgeable and adept at helping a person to understand and grasp nursing concepts/processes (ADPIE) and even goes above and beyond to address NCLEX-style questions and thought processes. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
