My name is Rahul G., and I am a student in Penn State’s highly selective Premedical-Medical B.S./M.D. Program with Sidney Kimmel Medical College, where I have maintained a 4.00 GPA while completing rigorous STEM coursework. I graduated as my high school’s valedictorian, earned a 99th percentile SAT score, and scored a 5 on all 17 AP exams that I completed. I was also recognized as a U.S. Presidential Scholar Semifinalist and a National Honor Society Scholarship recipient. Having recently gone through the college admissions process myself, I understand both the academic challenges students face and the strategies that lead to long-term success. My background in both the sciences and the arts has taught me to combine analytical thinking with creativity, allowing me to adapt my teaching style to each student’s individual needs.
Over the past several years, I have worked one-on-one with middle and high school students, primarily tutoring SAT preparation and AP-level courses, including biology and mathematics. My goal is not simply to help students improve their grades or test scores, but to teach them how to become independent, confident learners. Rather than relying on passive studying, I emphasize evidence-based learning strategies such as active recall, spaced repetition, retrieval practice, metacognitive reflection, and structured study planning. I also help students develop executive functioning skills, including organization, time management, and breaking large assignments into manageable steps, so they can succeed well beyond a single exam.
I believe every student can succeed with the right guidance and personalized approach. Watching students grow academically while becoming more independent learners is the most rewarding part of tutoring, and I look forward to helping every student reach their full potential.
