I am a first-year undergraduate at Cornell University studying biological sciences, with a strong academic foundation in STEM and a passion for helping others learn. Throughout high school, I challenged myself with advanced coursework, including college-level classes in anatomy and physiology, chemistry, and psychology. I also completed EMT training, which strengthened my ability to explain complex medical and scientific concepts clearly under pressure. My academic experiences have taught me not just the material but also how to break it down in a way that makes sense to different types of learners.
My tutoring experience comes from both formal and informal settings. I have worked one-on-one with peers and younger students, helping them understand subjects like biology, chemistry, and math. I have also supported classmates in group settings, especially when preparing for exams or working through difficult topics. Many of the students I’ve helped range from middle school to high school, and I adapt my approach depending on their needs, whether that means slowing down and building foundational understanding or pushing them with higher-level application questions. I focus heavily on active learning, encouraging students to explain concepts back to me, work through problems step-by-step, and develop confidence in their thinking rather than just memorizing answers.
What makes my approach effective is that I prioritize understanding over speed. I recognize that every student learns differently, and I take the time to figure out how they process information best. Whether it’s using real-life examples, simplifying complex ideas, or reinforcing key concepts through repetition and practice, my goal is to make learning feel approachable rather than overwhelming. I aim to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, because that’s where real learning happens.
