Well, fear not. I've got you covered. I have been a practicing child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist nearly 16 years and in that time have taught medical students, residents and fellows. I have also worked extensively with those who have unique learning needs. While others may not feel comfortable working with those who have ADHD, or autism, or learning disorders, I feel very comfortable and am thrilled to work with you. Everybody is unique and everybody can learn. Just some learn differently. That's just the way it is.
From psychopathology to psychopharmacology, from neuroscience to anatomy and physiology, I have expertise in various topics just because I have had to take an extensive number of courses throughout my career as well as have read a lot. In addition, I worked extensively with children, adolescents and adults with ADHD, Autism and Learning Disorders. From this experience, I have developed expertise in working with those with unique learning needs. This includes working on study skills, time management, executive functioning and developing healthy self esteem. Each of these components is necessary for being a successful student at whatever level you are learning.
I have always loved teaching, starting in college when I tutored fellow students and was a TA for several courses including a mid-level Zoology course and a Vietnam history course. I have completed board certifications in general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry, so I understand when you are preparing for your specialty exams. Recently, I have been coaching a middle school Science Olympiad Ecology team.
