About Barak

Bio

I help students succeed in economics, political science, and government courses, from AP classes through introductory college courses.

Many students understand the material when it is explained to them but struggle to apply it on homework, quizzes, and exams. I focus on closing that gap by making difficult concepts intuitive, showing students how the pieces fit together, and then applying them to graphs, problems, FRQs, and exam-style questions.

Sessions are focused and practical:

• Identify the concepts or skills causing difficulty
• Work through them step by step with clear, intuitive explanations
• Practice applying them until the student can solve problems independently

I regularly work with students in:

• AP Macroeconomics and AP Microeconomics
• College Principles of Microeconomics and Macroeconomics
• AP U.S. Government and AP Comparative Government

My background includes university-level teaching and professional experience in economic policy. My approach to tutoring is straightforward: understand the intuition, master the graphs and models, and learn how to apply them.

Whether you need help with an upcoming exam or ongoing support throughout the course, send me a message with what you're working on and I can help you develop a focused plan.

Government & Politics

Government & Politics

I specialize in High School Economics, AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, AP Government, introductory college economics, and Political Science. I help students understand concepts clearly so they can raise grades, improve exam scores, and feel confident working with graphs, models, and policy questions. I typically begin with a short diagnostic session to identify where confusion is occurring and what will help most right away. Background I have taught graduate-level economics and politics at Georgetown University and worked as an economist at the Federal Reserve, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the World Bank, and USAID. I also held a research fellowship at Stanford University. This experience allows me to explain economic concepts clearly and connect theory to real-world policy. Teaching Approach Concepts makes sense when concepts build on intuition rather than memorization. I help students understand ideas first, organize them clearly, and apply them confidently on exams. Sessions are structured and efficient. We identify gaps quickly, work through targeted examples using graphs and exam-style questions, and finish with a clear plan. Students often come to me overwhelmed by shifting curves and abstract models and leave knowing what drives each graph and how to approach exam questions confidently. What I Help With •AP Macroeconomics and AP Microeconomics •Introductory college economics (Principles of Micro and Macroeconomics) •Supply and demand, elasticity, and market structures •Cost curves and firm behavior •Aggregate supply and aggregate demand •Fiscal and monetary policy •The Phillips Curve and inflation–unemployment tradeoffs Getting Started I offer both short-term exam preparation and ongoing support and look forward to helping students build confidence in economics.
