I have a long history of connecting well with and helping all types of students, of all ages -- whether they love or hate school, are a neurotypical learner or way outside-the-box, an extrovert or an introvert, appreciate my sense of humor or just don't get it, etcetera. Even if you doubt that I'm the right tutor for your student (or for you, if you're the one I'd actually be working with), let's meet (and please, don't feel at all bad if you decide I'm not the right fit; I'll get over it...

(-:).
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard Law School, I eventually followed my passion and went into teaching in my 30s, initially as a middle school history teacher at a well respected independent school. Seven years later I founded an innovative independent school that provided a customized education for each of a wide range of students in grades 4-12. Unfortunately, after widespread student success and steady growth for six years, we were dislocated from our original location and ended up going out of business a year later. It's a very long story that I'm happy to share (in brief or ... do you have a few hours?).
For the past six years I served as the executive director of a nonprofit organization outside of the education sector until last month when, with a milestone birthday coming up, I left that position to give myself the time and space necessary to identify a new pursuit that truly energizes and fulfills me.
What I know for sure is that I miss working with students and want to start tutoring again now, at least to some extent, and ideally never again completely stop. I hope you choose to give an initial lesson with me a shot. In any event, be well!
