I am an environmental studies major with minors in anthropology and Chesapeake Regional Studies set to graduate in spring 2022. After graduation, I intend to take on a career in environmental education, preferably working in an outdoor setting.
While the sciences are my chosen career path, I have always had a knack for writing and hope to keep that as an element of my future occupation. Most of my formal writing background is in journalism as a staff writer for my school's newspaper and a contributor to Chesapeake Bay Magazine's Bay Bulletin. I enjoy writing of all forms, from creative fiction works to biology lab reports.
During my sophomore year of college, I learned my school's Writing Center was in need of tutors with STEM backgrounds. Seeing this as the perfect opportunity to combine my passions for teaching and writing, I began training as a writing tutor, taking a position as a tutor that same year. Since, I have worked with students from all disciplines on a variety of projects, including a number of long-term projects I had the satisfaction of seeing to completion. Because I have had experience with assignments ranging from physics theses to personal essays, I feel comfortable approaching any type of work and feel qualified to provide insight on the craft of writing regardless of topic. I have also been trained in developing presentations and public speaking, and worked to establish such curriculum at our Writing Center.
My goal is to help create better writers, not just pass assignments or complete projects. I strive to be accommodating and accept any resources necessary to ensure you have a successful session. Feel free to reach out with any additional questions or to schedule a tutoring session!
