I recently retired after 35 years as a full Professor and Program Director of the Geospatial Applications Program and the Survey Technology Program at the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) where I taught, tutored, and mentored thousands of students at the post-secondary/college level. I also spent 22 years as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County where I taught courses in Physical Geography, Cultural Geography, Oceanography, and Meteorology.

My teaching style is student-centered based on using real-world examples to provide them with the real-world skills and experience they need to be successful problem-solvers. My goal is to help you understand the material you need to know in a manner that works best for you.

During my career I developed and delivered lectures, labs, and professional workshops (both face-to-face and online) in GIS, Remote Sensing, Physical and Cultural Geography, World Regional Geography, Earth Science, Geology, Oceanography, Astronomy, and Meteorology. Withe respect to GIS, I have taught Introduction to GIS, Intermediate GIS and Advanced GIS, Problem Solving Using GIS, and Remote Sensing and GPS.

I also have extensive experience providing technical support on downloading, installing, and licensing a variety of GIS and Remote Sensing software packages, creating and managing online user accounts, as well as working with open-source GIS software packages and applications.

College Counseling

College Counseling

The MOST IMPORTANT resource a current or prospective college student needs to ensure success is a good advisor. I recently retired after 35 years as a full Professor and Program Director of the Geospatial Applications Program and the Survey Technology Program at the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) and 22 years as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County where I taught, tutored, and/or mentored thousands of students at the post-secondary/college level. During my career I have advised thousands of students making sure that they understood exactly what courses they needed to take for their major (and that they were prepared to take them), ensuring that their educational path fit the career they wanted to enter into, and/or making sure that they could successfully transfer to another college or university. Using experience gained throughout my educational and professional journeys (that I willingly share with students) I provide advising to ensure that you have the information and tools to be successful in your college career. My approach is to make sure that I understand your situation (financial, social, etc.), your goals and dreams, and how they can be achieved in the most efficient (and least cost) manner.
