About Nick

I have been teaching for 20+ years and specialize in providing effective, efficient, and entertaining instruction. I have an M.Ed from the University of Maryland and have taught at all levels and a number of different settings, from college to language schools to community centers.

Presently, I am an ESL professor at Montgomery College and a freelance ESL consultant. As a tutor, I like to focus on pinpointing where exactly the student has difficulty and using my knowledge and experience to find ways to overcome the problems. I have studied and successfully learned a number of languages, and I understand the kinds of problems second language learners face. I believe learning is a joy that we all share; my approach to teaching/tutoring is a reflection of that.

I live near Silver Spring, MD, and my schedule is flexible. I can meet at a student's home or a public location. Please feel free to contact me with any questions!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
