My name is Hawi Kebede, and I am a recent graduate from the University of Maryland, College Park, where I earned a degree in Biological Sciences with a Pre-med concentration, graduating with a 3.8 GPA. I also completed high school in the top 5% of my class, achieving a 3.9 GPA.
My tutoring experience began in high school through the National Honors Society, where I provided one-on-one support to students. I specialize in teaching math, science, ESL, and the MCAT. In math, I have a strong foundation, having taken courses from Algebra 1 and 2 all the way to college level calculus 1 and 2. My science background includes subjects ranging from General Biology to advanced courses like Microbiology, Biochemistry 1 and 2, and Organic Chemistry 1 and 2. As an immigrant who was once an ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) student, I have a personal connection to teaching ESL, and I am passionate about helping others master the language.
Also, I scored 509 on the MCAT sciences with 128 in Chem/Phys, 129 in Bio/Biochem, and 129 in Psych/Soc on June 2025. Through my preparation, I’ve learned both the right and wrong ways to study for this exam. I can help you create a personalized study schedule, break down difficult topics, and work through practice problems together. As someone who understands the challenges of taking the MCAT with English as a second language, I want to reassure you that you can still excel, even if CARS is your lower section.
