I am a doctoral-level tutor (Health Policy PhD) with nearly twenty years of experience in research, evaluation, and academic writing. My career includes senior roles at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, FasterCures, the American Hospital Association, and Avalere Health, where I led research studies, analyzed national datasets, and produced publication-ready reports for academic, clinical, and policy audiences. My dissertation, using advanced quantitative methods and national linked datasets, strengthened my expertise in research design, statistics, and scholarly writing.

My teaching experience spans several settings and student levels. I spent two years tutoring SAT prep at Chyten, working 1:1 with high school students to build reading, writing, and analytical skills. I later served as a college-level instructor at Ithaca College, where I taught a course on health disparities and mentored undergraduate students. I also supported graduate students throughout my own doctoral program, helping them with research methods, data interpretation, literature reviews, and academic writing across public health, psychology, policy, and social science fields.

I focus on creating clarity for and building confidence in students. I work closely with students to break down complex concepts, organize their ideas, and strengthen their analytical and writing abilities. Whether guiding someone through a research design, helping interpret statistical output, preparing a high school student for college, or refining the structure and flow of a paper or thesis, I focus on building understanding while also correcting work. I enjoy supporting learners at all stages, including high school students who are building foundational writing and critical-thinking skills, as well as college and graduate students working toward capstones, theses, and dissertations.

My goal in every session is to provide individualized guidance, helping students become more independent, capable, and confident in their work.

Data Analysis

Data Analysis

I have over twelve years of experience conducting quantitative and qualitative data analysis using Stata, SPSS, and Atlas.ti. My work includes leading a major national employer survey and producing annual analytic reports that contributed to health legislation and policy reform. In my doctoral research, I analyzed large linked national datasets and developed statistical models to identify drivers of variation in outcomes. I bring a strong foundation in data cleaning, dataset construction, and analytic interpretation, and I help students build skills that support clear, accurate, and meaningful analysis.
Data Science

Data Science

I have more than twelve years of experience working with large national datasets, including claims, survey, registry, and census linked data. My doctoral research involved building and evaluating statistical models in Stata, along with extensive data cleaning, preparation, and interpretation. I also led a major annual employer survey, analyzed the findings, and produced reports that contributed to federal and state health legislation. My background includes advanced work in SPSS, qualitative analysis using Atlas.ti, and independent consulting for global organizations, all of which allow me to teach practical and rigorous data science skills.
Econometrics

Econometrics

I have over twelve years of experience applying econometric methods to large and complex datasets, including national claims, survey, registry, and census linked files. I previously tutored undergraduate econometrics at the University of Chicago and graduate level econometrics at Brandeis University, helping students understand core theory, model selection, and interpretation of results. My doctoral research involved building and evaluating regression and multilevel models in Stata to analyze real world variation in outcomes. I also managed and analyzed a national employer survey that informed health policy decisions, and my training in SPSS, qualitative analysis, and consulting work strengthens my ability to teach econometrics in a clear and practical way.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I have extensive experience guiding students in producing clear, well-organized, and persuasive essays across disciplines. As a graduate-level instructor at Brandeis University, I taught a writing-intensive course that emphasized argument development, critical thinking, revision, and discipline-appropriate writing skills. I also taught at Ithaca College, where I supported students in structuring ideas, strengthening analysis, and improving overall writing coherence. In my professional work, I have authored a dissertation, peer-reviewed publications, policy reports, and briefs, and I regularly mentor others on crafting polished written work for academic and professional audiences.
Fiction Writing

Fiction Writing

I have an extensive background in helping writers craft clear, engaging, and well-structured narratives. As a university-level writing instructor, I taught students how to develop compelling ideas, refine their voice, strengthen storytelling techniques, and revise their work with intention. My experience guiding students through frequent writing, thoughtful critique, and iterative revision translates directly to supporting writers who want to build richer characters, stronger plots, and more cohesive fictional pieces. Across my professional career, I have written extensively for diverse audiences and mentored emerging writers on clarity, structure, and expressive prose, skills that are essential to effective fiction writing.
Sewing

Sewing

I am a self-taught sewist who first learned how to sew more than thirty years ago. Nine years ago, I returned to sewing to design and sew custom garments, accessories, and home projects. I work extensively with commercial sewing patterns and have strong skills in altering patterns for fit, refining construction techniques, and fitting as you sew. I have advanced experience using sewing machines, sergers, and cover stitch machines, and I enjoy helping students gain confidence with tools, fabrics, and foundational sewing methods. I work well with beginners learning the basics and with intermediate or advanced sewists who want to strengthen their technique and elevate the quality of their finished pieces.
STATA

STATA

I have more than twelve years of experience using Stata to manage, analyze, and model large national datasets, including claims, survey, registry, and census linked data. In my doctoral research, I used Stata extensively to clean and structure complex files, run regression and multilevel models, and interpret results for policy and academic audiences. I also led a national employer survey and used Stata to analyze annual trends that contributed to major health policy decisions. My training in SPSS and Atlas.ti, combined with consulting projects for global organizations, strengthens my ability to teach Stata in a clear, practical, and application focused way.
Thesis Writing

Thesis Writing

I have extensive experience helping students develop strong, clear, and well-structured academic writing. As a graduate-level instructor at Brandeis University, I designed and taught a writing-intensive course that guided students through thesis development, argumentation, revision, and discipline-specific writing practices. I also taught at Ithaca College, supporting students in critical thinking, organizing complex ideas, and producing polished analytical work. Across my professional career, I have authored a doctoral dissertation, peer-reviewed publications, policy briefs, and specialized reports, and I regularly mentor others on strengthening their writing for academic and professional audiences.
