She is good at figuring out what students have to learn. I had a proficiency test for listening and speaking and she knew what were my weak points instantly.She adjusts the lesson to make sure I am staying focused and interested. I'm very impressed.
I love teaching because I constantly see how students thrive if they have the right tools to learn German. In my classes German is comprehensive, fun, and yet straightforward. I like to find ways that make learning German easier, and more time-efficient.
Many students lose interest in learning a language because of a cookie cutter approach. Here, it's the opposite; lessons are very individual and carefully customized to the preferences, weaknesses, and strengths of my students.

Amazing German Tutor For All Age Groups
Dorothee has been helping me brush up on my German grammar - it has been 32 years since I took a German grammar course. She is very thorough in her teaching methods and provides me with interesting homework and class work. She is also helping my 17 year old son learn German. He is an absolute beginner, but she has managed to engage him in the study of German. (Very had when the student in a teenage boy!) I highly recommend Dorothee to anyone that wants to learn and/or increase their German proficiency. For the past year, my daughter has had weekly German lessons with Dorothee. Dorothee is extremely prepared for their sessions, provides great explanations, and has helped my daughter become more comfortable speaking German. In addition to her teaching style, the fact that Dorotheee is a native German speaker is a great advantage, with both pronunciation and common phrase learning.

I am a complete beginner, and I am really pleased with Dorothee’s approach of teaching the basics of grammar to get a base to really learn the language. We are moving to Germany, so we will need to really learn the language rather than just know phrases.

Good preparation for AP German exam!
Dorothee was super helpful and kind, and helped me feel prepared for the AP German exam! I had weekly lessons with her for 1.5 months, and she gave me helpful tips and introduced me to the structure of the exam. That way I felt familiar with all of the elements during the actual exam, and I was able to improve my speaking and writing. Thank you, Dorothee, I really enjoyed the lessons!
