Hello!
Thank you so much for stopping by my profile and taking the time to learn about my background. Here’s a fun fact: our brains weren’t originally designed to read. Even though reading, especially in English, can be quite a challenge, it’s something we often take for granted. Language is all about sounds represented by our 26 letters, which combine to form words. This complexity can create hurdles for some people.

As a Certified Dyslexia Therapist, my passion is helping individuals navigate these challenges. My approach is unique and tailored to each student’s needs, whether they learn best through touch, sight, sound, or a mix of methods. By focusing on the right sounds and using the best assistive technology, we can make great strides in reading and math.

I’m excited to help your child fall in love with reading and writing. To get the best results, I recommend committing to at least one hour per session, twice a week. This consistency is key to making steady progress. I’m here to support your child and help them unlock their full potential!

Reference: Maryanne Wolf: Director of the Center for Dyslexia

Wolf: We were never born to read. We were given a genetic program for language, for vision, for the olfactory system, for touch and cognition. But not for reading. Reading is a human invention and as such, it requires the brain to fashion a new circuit for itself. What the brain does, is to build a network that connects the parts needed for reading.

I am a bilingual educator with over 15 years of experience teaching English to speakers of other languages across the country. Because I have no accent in either English or Spanish, my students gain exposure to clear, natural pronunciation that makes learning easier and more effective. My teaching style is patient, adaptable, and focused on each student’s individual goals—whether that’s improving conversational fluency, mastering grammar, or preparing for professional and academic opportunities. With my experience, cultural understanding, and strong communication skills, I create lessons that are engaging, practical, and tailored to your needs.

Public Speaking

Public Speaking

For over 25 years in Sales and Marketing, I have not only seen but lived the change from the Yellow Pages to Social Media and beyond. Because of the Sales business' I've been in I have had to not only keep up with the times, but be AHEAD of the times! I have taken several seminars, webinars, leadership classes, been to several Chamber of Commerce Keynote functions focusing on public speaking both in person and Podcasting. In today's busy world many times business' don't have the available manpower time to schedule a seminar for their employees. Rather they purchase a Podcast of a seminar, or of a topic. I have been both present in creating, writing, editing and featured in Podcasting as well as physical in person Public Speaking. Currently I run a business, and must market myself. I use this method of Podcasting for informational marketing on my line of work for my clients. Information is power! Have been a member of many organizations such as the Better Business Bureau, Local Chamber's, Professional Women Chapters. Here I have had to make presentations, speeches, sales pitches, and run point on several committees with authority, confidence, and maintain an appropriate time frame to keep my audience's attention. Know when to have props, or leave behinds, or visuals to aid in bringing home my point. I believe these experiences make me fully qualified to assist a student in Public Speaking.

Excellent tutor for our son

Jessie V. is an excellent tutor for our eight year old son who struggles with reading and attention. Jessie really understands the way his mind works and his need for a multi-sensory approach. He has made significant progress with her in a short period of time and enjoys the lessons even on the days where he initially doesn't want to participate. She is masterful at adjusting to his needs and making things interesting for him. We are very pleased with the results!
