Greetings, thank you for checking out my profile. I am a teacher of social studies and history, working in public and parochial schools for the past seven years, teaching and learning with students between grades 6 and 12. I am certified to teach social studies in Maryland, where I live.
My main subjects taught have been U.S. history and government, World History and international relations. History is not so much about what happened in the past, as it is our present-day understanding and interpretation of the events and their significance in our lives today. It is an endlessly fascinating stream of stories. Making sense of these stories, their relevance and meaning is the job of social scientists.
Prior to teaching I worked in journalism for almost twenty years, traveling and reporting from various parts of our world. Just as it is important for journalists to have a direct, on the ground experience in the countries we cover and interaction with people we write about, many students benefit from one-on-one work with a teacher.
I look forward to the opportunity to help you along!
