Hello! I’m Felicia. I have spent a decade in Education, seven of which I spent as a classroom teacher, educating an average of 120 students a year. Aside from my professional certification as a teacher, I also earned my Bachelor’s in English and a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Administration.
I am passionate about writing and even more passionate about student growth and learning. As an educator, I have excelled at learning my students’ needs and adapting curricular materials to their interests and skill level. This is made even easier and more effective on a smaller scale. The reality is, the standard classroom of 30 students limits an educator’s ability to comprehensively see to the specific needs of each learner. Though we try, we are often short on the thing we need the most to be effective: time. Tutoring returns to us a way to support our students beyond the short school year.
Further, understanding that all learning is relational has equipped me with the openness to create positive, collaborative relationships with my students that have led to amazing improvements in their reading and writing skills. I believe in the importance of equipping students with the means to communicate clearly and confidently. After all, in our time, as it stands, first impressions are most often made in writing rather than in person.
If you’re interested in improving your reading, writing, grammar, research, and/or literary analysis skills, I would be thrilled to help!
