Hi, I'm David! I graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in Computer Science, along with minors in Business and Entrepreneurship. With over four years of tutoring experience, I have had the pleasure of working with over 100 students, primarily in high school and college.

Hi, I'm David! I graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in Computer Science, along with minors in Business and Entrepreneurship. With over four years of tutoring experience, I have had the pleasure of working with over 100 students, primarily in high school and college.

I achieved a perfect score of 1600 on the SAT, alongside 800s in SAT Chemistry and Math Level 2, as well as a 1490 on the PSAT. My academic journey includes AP scores of 5 in Computer Science A, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Chemistry, Calculus BC, Statistics, and Physics C, showcasing my diverse expertise across subjects.

My tutoring philosophy centers on guiding students to find the answers themselves. I believe in developing critical thinking skills and helping students build the confidence they need to tackle challenges independently. I also teach effective test-taking strategies that have proven beneficial for my students.

I’ve taught a wide range of subjects, including SAT and ACT prep, computer science and programming, chemistry, physics, calculus, and linear algebra. My experience as a teaching assistant in the Computer Science department at Hopkins has further honed my ability to explain complex concepts clearly and effectively, holding office hours for undergraduate students struggling with challenging topics.

What sets me apart is my dedication to tailoring my approach to meet each student’s unique strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. I take the time to understand my students' thought processes, allowing me to identify and address any issues while leveraging their thinking styles to guide them effectively.

I have worked on multiple projects, including building a search engine that ranks on readability; a website that finds recipes based on ingredients, dietary restrictions, and other filters; and a Computer Vision algorithm that tracks a pet's movement to monitor health and behavior. I also spent 3 years as a Johns Hopkins CS department teaching assistant.

Breaks down complex math problems and is consistently supportive

David is helping my son Jos prepare for his SAT in August. He is thorough and kind. Jos actually enjoys working with David on math because David breaks down the complex questions so well and Jos totally respects that. I think it takes a lot of stress from my son's life to feel stronger in math. Before prep for the SAT, by the way, they were working on Physics. Before working with David, Jos was getting low F's and D's and by the 4th quarter, he had an A in Physics and a B for the year overall.

Knowledgeable and Very Supportive Tutor!

David really went above and beyond by not only being available on a Sunday afternoon, but also clearing his schedule to tutor my daughter a second time to go over remaining concepts they did not have time to cover during their first one hour tutoring session. David patiently waited as my daughter explained the steps needed to solve her geometry questions and at the end confirmed that she not only got the answer correctly but also gave her a personal boost by telling her she was going to ace her exam! I cannot say enough nice things about David and the support he gave my daughter!
