My passion for teaching is rooted in my belief that complex technical concepts and standardized testing mastery should be accessible to everyone. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Philosophy from Yale University, with a minor in Statistics and Data Science. Currently, I work as a Full-stack Software Engineer, where I apply these principles daily in a professional production environment.
At Yale University, I served as an Undergraduate Learning Assistant for challenging courses like "Design and Implementation of Operating Systems" and "Computational Intelligence for Games". In this role, I led weekly review sessions for small groups and provided one-on-one debugging support for over 100 students. My tutoring method focuses on breaking down intimidating abstractions into manageable, modular steps. I specialize in buildings students confidence to enable growth of their independent problem solving skills. Beyond the university setting, I have years of experience mentoring young men as the Director of Activities and a Head Counselor at Camp Kawanhee. Managing groups of over 100 campers taught me the importance of patience, clear communication, and adapting my instruction style to meet the needs of different learners.
I have extensive experience in all high school and below math topics and some undergraduate topics as well. To exemplify, I earned a 1590 on the SAT, a 790 on the Math 2 SAT, and a 5 on the calculus B/C AP exam. In terms of computer science, I received a 5 on the Computer Science A AP exam and am proficient in Java, Python, HTML, CSS, SQL, and PHP. Experience serving as an editor of the Yale Philosophy Review equips me to teach writing and build students critical thinking skills.
