I have been teaching K- 12 math for more than 15 years. I am passionate about teaching mathematics as well as learning more effective ways to instruct you. I believe that each child deserves good quality instruction while being taught good study habits (including note-taking skills) and time organization. These skills will be key to success in high school, college and beyond.

It makes sense to use technology to its fullest....hey, we're in the 21 century!.... so I like this platform where I can connect with you online and teach math. I try to break down concepts as simply as possible and this involves asking key questions that will prompt you to develop your critical thinking skills. I then allow you to practice several problems that increase in complexity...from simple problems to more complex word problems. I know what you're thinking! Word problems! Ugh! But every word problem can be analyzed and broken down so I want to show you how to do that. Trust me...it's easy!

I am really excited about learning and teaching math. In my undergraduate studies I took classes in finite math and business calculus. I later went on to study for and pass the praxis II exam for grades 7 -12. Much of my teaching experience has been at the middle school level so I am well familiar with that age group.

I teach Algebra 2 to my advanced students as well as to students that I've tutored in the past. As a certified grade K to 12 math teacher I provide my students with a strong foundation in algebra before they move on to geometry and pre-calculus ( which I also intend to teach soon). I have a good success rate on standardized tests in this area.
Elementary Math

Once of my teaching certifications is in elementary education and I have taught at the elementary level in after school or Saturday school programs. At this level I emphasize a lot of hands - on learning which makes the transition from concrete to representational much easier. I also see this level as critical to an understanding of math because all the upper grades are built on the elementary grades.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I am certified to teach elementary math and also high school math. Pre-algebra is the foundation of algebra so I believe in really having a solid pre-algebra foundation. I start off with practicing simple examples where students learn the algorithm. Then I advance to more difficulty examples and more complex word problems. From my experience word problems always pose a challenge to students so I teach them to annotate key words; re-read the problem; identify the mathematical operations needed; and plan and execute their strategy. At first this seems hard but with practice my students have become better at it.

Passionate About His Subject
