Hi, I’m Samra! I’m a Baltimore teacher with 15 years of experience working with kids from pre-K through eighth grade, and I love helping students build real confidence in reading and math. I started working with kids as an undergraduate in 2011 and have since served thousands of students in general education and inclusion classrooms, as a literacy specialist, and through academic acceleration programs. I’ve helped students make more than a year of growth in less time.

I hold a Professional Teaching License and master’s degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education from Lesley University, along with a graduate certificate in school administration and supervision from Johns Hopkins University and a certificate in advanced education leadership from Harvard University. My bachelor’s degree is in international studies from Virginia Tech. I’ve also taught graduate-level courses for future teachers at Johns Hopkins and American University. As a literacy specialist and ELA team leader, I have deep experience teaching reading, from phonics to comprehension, and I’ve taught math in my elementary classrooms as well.
My sessions start with getting to know your child: what they love, what they’re good at, what feels tricky, and what they’re proud of. Together we set clear goals, and I track progress with assessment data so students can see their own growth over time, often reaching or even beating their goals. Because I’ve taught both general and special education, I’m comfortable getting creative when a student needs something different or a little extra support. I’ve also taught online since the pandemic, with learners of all ages. I’d love to help your child feel capable and confident in reading and math.
