Hello! I am a scientist and educator with a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Medicine from Johns Hopkins University. I have taught biology in classroom and laboratory settings, including introductory college biology, and have worked with students from middle school through college. I also completed the Johns Hopkins Teaching Academy certificate and developed a workshop introducing students to computational genomics. My research background in cancer biology allows me to help students understand not only biological facts, but also how scientists use experiments and evidence to reach conclusions.
I tutor general biology, AP Biology, cell and molecular biology, genetics, and related life-science subjects. I can help students who are struggling with course material, preparing for an exam, completing an assignment, or trying to strengthen their overall scientific reasoning. Because I have experience with both laboratory research and computational biology, I am comfortable explaining topics ranging from cellular processes and genetics to experimental design and data interpretation.
My approach begins with identifying exactly where a student’s understanding breaks down. I then divide complicated material into manageable steps, use diagrams and practical examples, and ask targeted questions to make sure the student can apply the concept rather than simply repeat a definition. I adapt each session to the student’s course, learning style, and goals while maintaining a patient environment where questions are encouraged. My goal is for students to leave each session with a clearer understanding, greater confidence, and study strategies they can continue using independently.
