I am a published freelance writer working mostly in long-form personal essay and cultural criticism formats, but write fiction–short stories and, presently, a novel–as well. I love helping students to hone their voice and improve their critical reading and writing skills and view both as lifelong pursuits. I am more than happy to work with students to shape an idiosyncratic approach to learning that fits whatever their particular interests may be, much in the vein of the Victorian-era approach to tutoring, whether that be bespoke reading lists or writing exercises, memorizing or writing poetry, or a deep dive into a particular author's work.
