Hi I'm Erin! I recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I have over two years of experience tutoring undergraduate-level Organic Chemistry through my school's peer tutoring center. Most of my experience has been with Organic Chemistry I, and I worked one-on-one with students both online and in-person. Many of my students were semester-long repeat clients, and we regularly worked together to thoroughly understand the material and prepare for exams....
Many of my students were semester-long repeat clients, and we regularly worked together to thoroughly understand the material and prepare for exams.
One of the main reasons I enjoy tutoring Organic Chemistry is because I genuinely enjoy the subject. I know that OChem can feel overwhelming or intimidating at first, but I like helping people break reactions and mechanisms down into understandable patterns and logical steps. Rather than focusing only on memorization, I try to help students understand why reactions happen, how electron movement drives mechanisms, and how concepts connect across different topics. I've found that once students begin to recognize these patterns, OChem often becomes much more manageable.
My tutoring style is patient, collaborative, and highly individualized. I adapt sessions based on what each student needs and what they feel most comfortable with. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through confusion without judgement. Whether you're looking for long-term support throughout a course or just need help preparing for an upcoming exam that's particularly gnarly, I would be happy to work with you!
