Hi, I'm Gabrielle! I'm a sophomore in the David C. Frederick Honors College at the University of Pittsburgh, studying Computer Science with a focus on computational biology. I currently work as a tutor for college students and elementary-aged children in computer science and English, and have several years of experience with ACT and SAT prep, primarily in writing and reading.
My educational approach centers on the Feynman technique, which teaches learning for mastery. In practice, this means I ask a lot of questions, encourage students to teach concepts back to me, and build sessions around understanding rather than memorization. I tailor every session to the individual learner, and I always start with a preliminary meeting to understand exactly what the student needs, what hasn't been working, and what success looks like for them.
On the CS side, I'm comfortable teaching Python, Java, introductory programming concepts, and data structures. For younger students, I like to utilize hands-on examples and real-world connections. For test prep, I focus on strategy and pattern recognition alongside content review to help students work smarter under timed conditions. Whatever stage you're at in your educational journey, I'll meet you where you are and build from there.
