Day to day, I'm working with students on everything from unpacking complex texts to understanding historical ideas to getting their thoughts down clearly in writing. Beyond whole-class instruction, I also work with students one-on-one to sharpen their English skills — reading comprehension, vocabulary, written expression. I believe in pushing students to do more than they think they can, but I also know that only works when the learning feels relevant and engaging. So I'm big on clear, scaffolded instruction paired with good questions and hands-on strategies that keep kids invested and give them real ownership over what they're learning.
Over the years, I've taught students from 3rd through 8th grade in just about every setting — whole class, small group, and individual — and I've also tutored high schoolers in government. That range has given me a strong sense of where students tend to struggle and where they're ready to be stretched. Whether I'm helping a student shore up foundational skills or pushing a strong reader to think more deeply, my focus is always the same: build confidence, build independence, and create the kind of environment where students feel safe enough to ask questions, take risks, and genuinely grow.
