My name is Iyabo A. and I have extensive experience supporting students from preschool through college. I hold a bachelor's degree from Harvard University, where I studied History of Science with advanced coursework in physics, mathematics, and humanities, and a Master of Health Sciences from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
I have strong academic qualifications in standardized testing and advanced coursework. I scored in the 99th percentile on both the SAT (1520) and ACT (34), and completed eight AP Exams, including Government & Politics (U.S.), Calculus AB, English Language, Physics C: Electricity & Magnetism, Physics C: Mechanics, English Literature, Calculus BC, and U.S. History, earning a 5 on all exams. I was accepted to eleven undergraduate institutions, including seven Ivy League schools, and bring firsthand insight into high-level academic preparation, test-taking strategies, and the college application process.
My teaching experience spans more than six years across tutoring, classroom instruction, mentoring, and curriculum design. I began as a tutor at Kumon Learning Center, where for two years I provided individualized math and reading instruction to students ages 4–14. I adapted lesson plans to student ability, monitored progress, and helped build foundational skills. As a teaching assistant at Harvard University for two years, I worked in a college classroom setting, supporting course management, holding one-on-one sessions, and delivering detailed feedback on student writing. I have also mentored high-school students for four years, where I designed and delivered lessons on academic organization, wellness, and personal development, helping students build self-efficacy and a sense of belonging. Across these roles, I prioritize helping students understand concepts deeply, gain confidence, and make measurable academic progress. I would be excited to bring my experience, professionalism, and enthusiasm for learning to your tutoring team. Thank you for your consideration.
