About Katarina

Bio

I’m Katarina, a data-driven math tutor who makes complex ideas straightforward. I’m completing an M.S. in Applied & Computational Mathematics at Johns Hopkins (GPA 4.0, graduating December 2025) and work as a research analyst. Previously, I provided more than 150 hours of one-on-one tutoring at Bowdoin College in probability, statistics, and quantitative reasoning, earning consistent top ratings for clarity, empathy, and subject mastery.

I support high-school, undergraduate, and adult learners across algebra, precalculus, calculus I–III, linear algebra, probability, statistics, real/complex analysis, as well as data analysis for labs and projects in R or Python. My approach starts with a quick diagnostic to pinpoint gaps, building intuition before formal methods, and reinforcing skills with exam-style practice and concise takeaways after each session.

My credentials include an upcoming Mathematics M.S. in December 2025 from Johns Hopkins (4.0 GPA, Honors), and a B.A. in Mathematics & Integrative Biology (dual major) from Bowdoin College (3.8 Math GPA, Dean's List). I tutor online and in-person in the Baltimore area when helpful. I look forward to connecting and learning with you!

ACT Math

ACT Math

We’ll quickly identify your highest-value content gaps (algebra, functions, trig, and data/geometry) and build a focused plan. I teach fast methods for common item types, pacing for the 60-question format, and when to skip/return. Practice is structured with timed sets and a personal error log so gains stick. Sessions end with concise notes and a plan to master the next concept.
Biostatistics

Biostatistics

I pair graduate-level statistics training with a biology background to help you design studies and analyze real data. I’ve earned A/A+ grades in Bayesian, computational, and multivariate statistics at Johns Hopkins and work daily in R and Python. Typical projects include experimental design, power analysis, GLMs/mixed models, survival analysis, and reproducible reporting. I focus on clear model choice, sensible assumptions, and takeaways you can defend in papers or lab meetings.
Calculus

Calculus

I help students connect limits, derivatives, and integrals to problem-solving techniques they can execute under time pressure. Topics include optimization, related rates, series/Taylor, multivariable gradients, Lagrange multipliers, and vector calculus. I’ve tutored extensively across gateway and advanced math and earned A’s in analysis and complex analysis. Sessions end with concise notes and a plan to master the next concept.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

I cover both the computational core (Gaussian elimination, eigensystems, SVD, least squares) and proof skills (span, independence, diagonalization). My statistics and data-science work reinforces real applications of linear algebra. We’ll tie abstract concepts to concrete examples and numerical intuition. Sessions end with concise notes and a plan to master the next concept.
Logic

Logic

I train students to write clear, correct proofs using direct, contrapositive, contradiction, and induction methods. We’ll master propositional/first-order logic, quantifiers, sets, and common proof pitfalls. My analysis and discrete-math background keeps rigor front-and-center while staying approachable. You’ll get commented drafts to strengthen your proof style.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I quickly diagnose gaps in functions, algebraic manipulation, trigonometry, and graphing that hold students back. Lessons build intuition first, then procedures, with modeling and word-problem translation woven in. Expect structured practice, step-by-step methods, and concise takeaways so skills stick. I support high-school, college-prep, and adult learners online or in the Baltimore area.
Probability

Probability

I’ve tutored 150+ hours in probability/statistics and completed advanced probability/statistics coursework (all with A/A+ grades). I build intuition first—conditioning, law of total probability, distributions, expectation/variance—then formal methods. Sessions emphasize problem-solving strategies for proofs and exams. You’ll get concise summaries and targeted practice after each lesson.
Real Analysis

Real Analysis

I earned A’s in Real Analysis (JHU) and Introduction to Analysis (Bowdoin) and routinely support proof-based courses. We’ll make ε-δ arguments, sequences/series, continuity/differentiability, Riemann integration, and uniform convergence feel systematic. I emphasize structure: definitions → lemmas → theorems → applications. Expect detailed feedback on proofs and polished write-ups.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I start with a quick diagnostic to target algebra, functions, and geometry gaps that drive most misses. We use official-style problems, timed sets, and an error log to turn patterns into a focused study plan. I teach efficient strategies (plug-in, backsolving, proportional reasoning, calculator/no-calc discipline) alongside core skills. Sessions end with concise notes and a plan to master the next concept.
Statistics

Statistics

During my undergraduate degree in Mathematics at Bowdoin College, I was personally selected by my Statistics professor to tutor students who were struggling in their statistics courses. I consistently received top ratings from students and professors for clarity, empathy, and subject mastery. Further, I have taken and excelled at several undergraduate and graduate courses in Statistics. My relevant coursework includes: Bowdoin College (Bachelor of Arts): Probability, Statistics, Mathematical Reasoning, Advanced Probability & Statistics Johns Hopkins (Master's of Science): Statistical Methods & Data Analysis, Bayesian Statistics, Multivariate Statistics, Theory of Statistics, Computational Statistics
