Hi! My name is Avi. I hold a PhD in Classics from Brown and an undergraduate degree (summa cum laude) from Cornell. I am also an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland, teaching the occasional class at the College Park or Baltimore County campuses. I have primarily taught Classics and ancient languages to college students, though I have tutored and taught students of all ages in various subjects. Most recently, I have taught courses on classical mythology and religion, philosophy, and ancient languages (Greek and Latin) at Brown and the University of Maryland.
As a teacher, I work hard to engage my students and respond to their own unique interests and needs. I believe that differentiated instruction is the heart of effective teaching. I always base my classes on a detailed curriculum and schedule which I constantly adjust to students' needs as the lessons progress. I have a flexible teaching style and everything I do is geared towards making sure each of my students meet their learning goals.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson. I am easy to reach and pride myself in giving speedy responses.
