My name is Tani. I received my Bachelor's in Math from the University of Maryland Baltimore County with a 3.57 GPA. Included in the classes I took were Algebra I and II, Calculus I, II, and II, Linear Algebra, Probability and Statistics, Time Series Analysis, and Mathematical Modeling, all which I received a grade of A in. In addition I scored an A in Fundamentals of Financial Management and Beginner Accounting I and II. A few years later I realized how much I enjoyed accounting and went back to school at University of Maryland Global Campus to take prerequisites for the CPA exam. While there I took Intermediate Accounting I and II, Cost Accounting, Federal Income Tax I and II, Auditing Theory and Practice, Fraud and Forensic Accounting, and Business Accounting, scoring straight As in these courses. Subsequently, I took the CPA Exams and passed on the first try with scores of 86 in FAR, 86 in REG, 84 in BEC, and 76 in AUD.

While at school I realized many of my favorite teachers were those who had other jobs during the day or have retired and are now teaching. While understanding the material is necessary for teachers, there is no substitute for real life experience in the job. This is the style of teaching I give to my students. With a mix of knowledge and experience, I help students understand the subject, while giving them the tools to apply them outside the classroom. In addition, I have taken and passed many online classes and self study tests like CLEP, Actuary Exam P, FINRA Series 66 SIE and 7, and the CPA exam. Using my experiences as a self study student, I can help with best practices and focuses for these type of class environments.

As a tutor, my priority is always my students' success. My lesson plans are geared to each student's strengths and learning preferences. Learning is not a one size fits all and I adjust my lesson plans to best help each individual student according to their skills and needs.
