I am a graduate of the PHD program in Slavic Literature at UC Berkeley and the MA Program in the Humanities at the University of Chicago. While my graduate work centered on Russian culture and literature, my educational experience has also been broad, including world literature, philosophy, art history, film, and critical theory, which also enjoy deploying in my teaching. In the past 15 years, I have taught and tutored American, English, and Russian literature to students both at the high school and college levels. It is in these areas that I excel and I get excited when preparing students for success at the top tier universities in the country.
I believe in engaging my students with the material and getting them excited about the works we cover. Over the past decade many of my students have commented that my teaching has been instrumental in shaping their plans for the future. My proudest moments, however, are those instances when I tutored those students that seemed to be
struggling with the material and over the course of our time together saw their grades improve along with their confidence level.
The focal point of my teaching and tutoring has been on the fundamentals of clear writing and critical reading, while we mindfully examine those areas where the student needs greatest support. I believe in motivated young adults in their search for knowledge and helping them develop into critical thinkers and
responsible citizens.
