I am a beginner German language student and wasn't sure if getting a tutor would be better than taking a class, however, I really liked the idea of being able to meet as frequently as needed to and learn at my pace vs. that of an entire class. Doris is a great communicator and responded right away to my inquiry. She was able to meet within a couple days and at a convenient location. She came prepared to help me get started and I liked her approach of giving me insights about how the language is structured but also getting me started with speaking right away. Something about her teaching style has me remembering almost everything I learned in that hour without having to go back to my notes all the time. She put me at ease and was very positive. She pinpointed their weaknesses and helped them progress with some of the trickier grammar points. Doris is working with my 16 year old son to supplement his school lessons. She assists with teaching additional grammar and tenses as well as practice with vocabulary. Just having extra time with regular conversations in German gets him enjoying it more, as well. He was nervous about tutoring, but he really enjoys his sessions with Doris. Doris made my experience learning German a breeze. Doris built a lesson plan for my specific needs and didn’t rush through material. All of her worksheets served as building blocks to future lessons, which is very helpful when you can understand the fundamentals then everything else comes a bit easier. She is very understanding with schedules and plans homework accordingly. She is truly wonderful!
