I’ve been interested in technology and numbers since my father and I took apart abandoned computers for fun. I am currently working as a software engineer and get to see the real-world applications of quantitative subjects on a day to day basis. This has given me a real passion to help people really master and (gasp!) enjoy doing math. It really does make a difference in the world.

As a piano instructor, I want to focus on helping you achieve your goals in music. Everyone comes to piano with a different end in mind. Maybe it is finally playing a challenging piece that you love to listen to. Perhaps it's learning how to improvise. Having these goals is great as a first step, but an instructor can be helpful to breakdown your goal into manageable steps. Developing technical skill is one thing. Generating the right feeling while playing is another. Getting the tone that you want out of the piano is where the real pleasure of playing happens. It transforms what is essentially a block of wood into an instrument of musical expression. Using what I've learned from my own practice and my teachers' instructions, I will work with you to get the sound and dynamics that you want from the instrument.
I have been playing piano for 16 years. I have had the privilege of studying with incredible musicians. My studies began under an accomplished church pianist who gave me a foundation in classical and gospel styles. At the same time, I began to explore improvisational music. I've had the privilege of working with Joe Reid and Harvey Diamond, both accomplished. I currently play in the Boston area with a jazz quartet and in a funk band based in Lowell, my college town. My attitude has always been one of constant learning and commitment. Especially early on, there were certain elements of music that I struggled with. Over time, I have learned to recognize the roadblocks that impede progress and find strategies to overcome those weaknesses.
I studied mathematics (with a minor in computer science) at the University of Massachu
