Hello there, I'm Sarah! I love helping students succeed in their English classes, from elementary to highschool, and breaking difficult assignments into manageable steps. As a sophomore college student based in Worcester, MA, most of my experience was built in the classroom, so I know a lot of issues students face; I've experienced them myself. I excel in writing, analyzing text, but tailor based on age, skill and the task at hand. I make sure my feedback is honest and thorough. When we focus on what you already know, instead of stressing about expectations, learning clicks naturally, no pressure. I actually practiced this on my nieces, aged 8 and 7. Teaching them showed me that just a little praise and patience can turn spelling into a game they want to win. Praising their effort, and patiently steering them in the right direction until they can spell and pronounce things on their own turned learning into a fun challenge that grew their confidence to the point where they could problem solve on their own.
My goal as a tutor on Wyzant is to be engaging and personalized to the needs of each student I meet. I meet students where they are and work at their pace. Students leave feeling proud of what they accomplished, while they continue developing writing skills that they need to excel in school and beyond.
