I have expertise in Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, Statistics and other math subjects, from elementary, pre-college, college to advanced graduate levels.
I hold a BA, an MSc and a PhD degree (Algebraic Topology), all in Pure Math. I also hold an MSc degree in Actuarial Science besides being a certified Actuary, ASA (Associate, Society of Actuaries) since 1988. Thus, my background covers both areas of Pure and Applied Math, especially as pertains to Business, Finance and Economics.
I have had more than three decades of university math teaching on two continents. With this came the normally required thousands of tutorial hours to help students successfully learn the subject matter. But my tutorial engagements transcended required professorial duty. I was for a year a full-time High School math teacher. I had been the Lead math tutor or Math tutorial coordinator in a few pre-college, transitional or success-oriented College programs. For example, I was the lead tutor in the Academic Achievement Program of the University of Maryland, College Park (four summers) and Math Tutorial Coordinator, Northeastern University African American Institute, Boston (three years). At the Math Department, Southern University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana I was the founder of the Mathematics Tutorial Clinic. Portfolio of courses I have taught and tutored in include but is not limited to Basic and Pre-Calculus Algebra, Linear Algebra, AP Calculus, Advanced Engineering Math, Calculus and Statistics to nursing majors.
In my tutorial work, I urge effective learning and aim for effective learning assistance. For, as I learned in Primary school, anything worth doing is worth doing well!
